Hi Ishvara, Nelson and Dean (and Heartsong and Sajjad),
I just would like to introduce you here. Ishvara is the founder of Harbin Hot Springs (and has been there since 1972, having gone to Harvard College some years before), and Nelson Graburn and Dean MacCannell are Emeritus Professors at the University of California with far-reaching foci on
tourism studies.
Nelson also wrote the Foreword to my "Naked Harbin Ethnography: Hippies, Warm Pools, Counterculture, Clothing-Optionality & Virtual Harbin."
Check out the 3D interactive Harbin Gate in the Google Streetview/Maps/Earth virtual world - http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg - (and accessible from here - https://twitter.com/HarbinBook) and walk all the way down the road to Middletown if interested. People can add their own photos here (I did) ... and it will be interesting to see how this Google Streetview virtual Harbin emerges further with time.
I blogged about some of my previous emails in this thread here on Sep 1 -
http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/09/mataranka-hot-springs-australia-making.html.
Heartsong, since I've gotten some bounce-backs from Ish's and Sajjad's Harbin email addresses, could you possibly please make sure they receive this email? Thank you!
And thank you again, Ish, for your great 2008 interview (see below too - and permission to write this book!), which is included in full in my "Naked Harbin Ethnography" book.
Best regards, and Namaste,
Scott
