Re 'mastery learning' thinking, let's explore with time playing any of the tunes from the Green or Blue Tutors (I can share ones further from the my Blue/Green Tutors which you don't have, for learning purposes, - and since you have a Blue Tutor too esp.) by sight-reading in a sense. (And even at Bruce Wright's tempos with time - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/02/western-honey-bee-re-my-upcoming-honey.html).

I bet too the Scottish music genre Piobaireachd (Ceòl Mòr) we're getting into will offer lovely material for composing harmonies newly (but they're also all laments! :( :) ... so let's keep harmonizing with the dance tunes - light music - Ceòl Beag - too, composing-wise!

And Colin MacLellan's Piobaireachds - https://www.pipereeds.com/piobaireachd-played-by-colin.html - are worth a listen (in the background), well-played (re note duration), - and may be some of the most beautiful 'old favorites' of the old Piobaireachds too - and yet without multimedia or other virtual expression of vision, beyond the initial painting, tile or art. (But it would be interesting to hear PM Stuart Liddell play these amazing Piobaireachds:).

Re Scottish small pipes' seconds' composing, am curious too about writing countermelodies 

Have been listening to Peter, Paul and Mary (BBC 1965) - https://youtu.be/qdcapT2Tdag - and just learned of the bass player in the background, Dick Kniss - 

Not Bach fugues, am interested in any 2 completely separate piping tunes, which when played together create music and harmonies. Can't think of any whatsoever, and perhaps the key you composed the PIper of Drummond's seconds in would be best for exploring this, given the 9 note range of the Scottish pipe ...

Some further musical directions to head in regarding Scottish piping and innovations even :)

one interesting question for me theory-wise, in these regards, is what is a melody? And further, could Scottish bagpipe melodies somehow be different from melodies in general (ie Piobaireachd grounds / urlars or motifs for example)? "). And what is a Scottish piping melody (I like in particular what I'll call 'lyrical' piping music) relative to seconds, or harmonies?

Are you ordering a SSP chanter in B flat?

I'd think that the Piper of Drummond harmonies you composed could be best played on a B flat SSP chanter, and that, brainstorming-wise, since the melody line from the Green Tutor isn't there per se, that both of the lines you composed could be harmonies. We'll have to see if they work, when and if you get a B flat chanter, and we can play together in person face-to-face (and not just face-to-face in Skype).  But I'd think we can think of your composition in other ways too! Congratulations!

I just asked Jean how much a Bb polypenco chanter by itself will go for. I'll see for myself if it'll work with my drones. If it doesn't, I can still use the chanter with no drones and maybe save up for a full Bb set when I have the money set aside.

Cool!

Another consideration: If you were to get a new set of polypenco B flat drones too eventually, would there be a COMBO drone (as a kind of baritone drone)? ... am assuming there would be (but an A/D COMBO drone offers more combinations of tones).

Am only beginning to find the magic of the baritone combo drone in certain tunes in the right key (this past week) ... So COMBO drone on Bflat full SS pipes is no biggy ..

Sounds great, esp. if you think you'll play it a lot ... B flat chanter opens horizons with learning Piobaireachd re GHB recordings too !

Congratulations if you get the chanter!

Re vision and sound for my upcoming "Honey in the Bag" SSP album (which I'm playing nightly for, before going to bed - and which I think I shared with you on Tu Apr 28, 2020 too):

It's the otherness of Scottish kilt and attire that can compliment this vision of cultural alien of spaceship bagpiper playing beautiful bagpipe as (inscrutable) computer code that I'd like to highlight as vision with video even in my upcoming 'Honey in the Bag' Scottish Small Pipes' album. (Indians. India. Hippies - at Harbin Hot Springs esp - can all get very beautifully to this other cultural liminal luminaries' space, in visionary clothes too, - and with music). I won't suggest that spaceship bagpipe computer small piping is anything like shooting a ray gun for tele-transportation  "Beam me up, Scotty" from Star Trek. ... but this Scottish alien envisioning could contribute to a vision of freedom for Scotland as well, Ma! ;)Love, ScottHow's your day going? PLAYED piping some jigs at 110 bpm last night again - good news - and the upper BPM end of where I'd like to play all the jigs and strathspeys ON ALBUM  .. still some work to go  ... regarding Scottish small piping ray gun shooting for tele-transportation :)! Wanna play the jigs and strathspeys both at about 120 very well and transformatively, flow experience-wise! :)
