I just talked with my mother, and would like to invite you to Christmas Eve in a Google Meet video meeting. We're exploring 7pm Eastern Time (4pm west coast time), but other times are possible, - as would meeting on Xmas day. For an hour or so? It would be really nice to share Xmas Eve together, which is on a Thursday this year, if you're available. Will you be in DC; will you be traveling; Might you be available?
Warm regards, Scott

Hi Scott,
Thank you for the wonderful invitation. I would love to connect with you two during the holiday. I'm celebrating xmas eve by having a benign, fatty lump taken off my back. I think it is pressing on nerves, and the 24th was the only opening before February. I may be out of commission Thur pm. Are you two available xmas day? I'm wide open and could talk any time that works for you.
I hope to see you then.
All the best,
David

Hi David,
Sounds really great! How would noon your time (9am Pacific Time) work for you on Christmas Day? (Good luck with your procedure!)
That sound wonderful. I look forward to seeing you both. And thanks about the (very minor, I hope) surgery. I'm most scared about covid, but the medical folks are probably better than anyone at keeping their environment safe.
See you soon.
All the best,
David

Hi David,
Wonderful, as well! I look forward to seeing you both as well. (Am a bit of a Covid-19 genes' skeptic, so think you'll be very safe in these regards regarding your surgery - good luck!) More soon!
Merry Xmas!
All the best, Scott
Hi David and Ma,
here's the Google Meet video conference link (just like Zoom) for Xmas Day at noon Eastern Time -
It looks like the carol service for Fettes College (now IB high school in Edinburgh Scotland, where I studied in 1977-'78) just ended this morning, but is available here
- https://www.fettes.com/familyforlife/carolservice2020 - re the Christmas spirit too ... (It's interesting ethnographically, in a sense, too - and am personally skipping through to the music, while the spoken parts are from 2016 and 2019 ... with an interesting glimpse into a Scottish schools' thinking for an Xmas caroling service).
Merry Christmas!
Warm regards, Scott
Carol Service 2020
Welcome to the Carol Service for the Fettes Community 2020
We are delighted to bring you our 2020 Carol Service filmed in advance and in accordance with the current government guidelines. Our readers were filmed in Chapel from a distance and our carols are from recordings made in 2016 and 2019. In these unprecedented times when we are unable to gather, sing and pray together at Christmas time, we hope that you will be able to join with us from wherever you are in the world to participate in this Festival Service of Lessons and Carols.
Am curious too how one might do online ethnomusicology of the Fettes' College Caroling service since it's also how this British school does joining (connecting) and via music and 'religion' and newly over the internet. Xmas (and Easter too) are I think important seasons in the British Isles / Scotland still.
Nice to join and connect at Xmas time, and interesting to think too about how this might work in this context, from Fettes' perspective, and given perhaps the role even that money, lack of money in Scotland historically, Fettes' as a private school, and that this video emerged from their Development office for Fettesians to feel connected in this season. What are the symbols? Xmas ornaments, beautiful buildings and campus, emblems of traditions...
Looking forward to seeing you on Xmas ... Will I have a small Xmas tree in the background? Not sure yet but maybe :) Will you Ma? You, David? Three Xmas trees due to Web Christmas :) ... Could be kind of
Merry Christmas!
Warm regards, Scott
(I've been communicating a bit in recent weeks inquiring about Fettes doing an only be ethnomusicological project of how Fettesians have heard the great Rock musical album 'Blind Faith' over the past 50 years in these regards too :)
