Dear Candace (and Justin),

Thanks so much for your great talk yesterday - "Connectivity and competition: agricultural strategies at the Roman Villa of Vacone, Italy" ... https://events.stanford.edu/events/828/82897/ - and nice to meet you. Am appreciative of how your thinking and photos and modeling (in planning too for a virtual museum) could go into a Google Street View with TIME SLIDER / Maps / Earth / TensorFlow / Translate + ecosystem for STEM field sites) ecosystem and co-constitute further your economic agricultural argument re the Vacone Villa. Am curious how socio-cultural archaeological data could be added in parallel. Am appreciating too Justin, how videos from your maritime Roman field sites say from 1974 and 1979 could be 'patched together' with TensorFlow machine learning in a developing interactive 3D realistic virtual earth for STEM.

Here are some blog posts about actual-virtual, physical-digital anthropological comparative field work with nascent (Lego-informed re Brick Street View) robotics (and for a new social science / STEM method I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy):

Looking forward to staying in touch, and further great talks. (Please come visit on Cuttyhunk, Candace, with your family sometime - for a day trip; Providence, RI is only about 45 minutes from New Bedford, MA. I should be there in late July, if you happen to have moved and be settled by then:). Congratulations on your position at Brown as well!

Thank you.

All the best, Scott

In a related vein re a realistic virtual earth for archaeology at the cellular and atomic levels too (and re field geology as well):

Yanshuo, (Nelson, Dean and Juliet),

Yanshuo, thanks for your excellent 'Yin' talk to the 'Yang' of Han culture - http://tourismstudies.org/news_archive/Zhang2019.htm. I learned much about Chinese identity and "Re-imagining Ethnicity through Tourism Activities and Cultural Discourses: The Case of the Qiang People in China" re the texts you shared. And congratulations on receiving your Stanford Ph.D. recently!

In this textual 'writing culture' approach to tourism and the Qiang people, did any questions focus on the Qiang language itself in the Q&A yesterday evening? I noticed that there are 140,000 speakers of the Chiang language https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qiang_language (with many more texts overall probably in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qiangic_languages).

Am curious too if you might be interested in teaching Qiangic languages at CC-4 MIT OpenCourseWare-centric Qiang World University and School in some years? It would be a great way to further develop your thinking and study of Qiang identity. MIT OCW is only in traditional Chinese - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/traditional-chinese/ - but World University and School seeks to specialize in all 7,111 living languages - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages - and create many excellent academic careers. This would also offer an opportunity to further a Chinese culture online you know so much about. And to offer, as well as help create, too an online CC-4 MIT OCW-centric education to Chinese kids.

Do you have a Gmail, or long term email, for after your Stanford email?

Thank you again for your excellent talk,
Scott
