Hi M,

Pretty good video short by Jana Fredricks as actress (now at Quantum Theater):
'Secret Life' -

"SECRET LIFE" - Music Video - (Director's Cut) from Michael Robayo on Vimeo.
https://vimeo.com/58795906

(And it looks like she's done two publicly available videos - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6392913/).

Is Jana a 'good egg'? Seems like she might be.

Am thinking of heading again to the Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion - https://www.kswild.org/ksregion - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klamath_Mountains_(ecoregion) - https://www.worldwildlife.org/ecoregions/na0516 - of southern Oregon / northern California on my way north to Reed in September. I actually drove through this vast continental US forested area in June - and was 'wowed.' Would like to explore a bit further. David Rains Wallace published a book called "The Klamath Knot" (Sierra Club Books - 1983 / University of California Press) in the early 1980s while I was at Reed I recall ... about its evolutionary biology, and mythology ... focusing on the unique species that have evolved there due to unique evolutionary and geological history. Echoes of David Quammen's books, Oregon environmentalism / Cathedral Forest Action Group thinking too (non-violent activism, possibly compared with Earth Firsts' sometimes militant activism, for ex). Oregon was a hippie haven / heaven in the 1960s and '70s too. Although it occurred to me on this trip also to explore Hart Mountain Hot Springs, I may instead head to Hart Mountain Hot Springs, Plush, OR 97637 on the way back from Wisdom Creek Ranch to SF Bay Area possibly in June of 2020. Seeking a Toyota camper van hybrid (and there aren't any in the US, believe it or not, but there are 3 in other countries: the Proace, Lerina and Alphard ... go figure) since the Toyota Sienna isn't really a camper van. I appreciate Toyota's design qualities and relative value.

Seeking to record the remaining tunes today in the CoP's Blue Tutorial Vol 3 as Tune Tutorials before lesson with Finlay tomorrow morning. Have gotten some new holes punched in my bellows' arm band strap - so there's no more wiggle room in it, which is good. Recording these tunes creates a kind of recording baseline from which to develop too.

On with World Univ & Sch, next book of poetry "To the Dance or the Pools? - Virtually! ..." piping, and much more!

Is my blog a philosophy, or does it express a kind of philosophy? Possibly. Here's one definition in this sense:

"• a theory or attitude held by a person or organization that acts as a guiding principle for behavior: "don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed, that's my philosophy" " (Apple dictionary)

And some others:
"Philosophy (from Greek φιλοσοφία, philosophia, literally "love of wisdom") is the study of general and fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy

"Philosophy is a way of thinking about the world, the universe, and society. It works by asking very basic questions about the nature of human thought, the nature of the universe, and the connections between them. The ideas in philosophy are often general and abstract."
https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy

"Philosophy uses the tools of logic and reason to analyze the ways in which humans experience the world. It teaches critical thinking, close reading, clear writing, and logical analysis; it uses these to understand the language we use to describe the world, and our place within it."
https://phil.washington.edu/why-study-philosophy

So, what's wisdom? :)

the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.
• the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment: some questioned the wisdom of building the dam so close to an active volcano.
• the body of knowledge and principles that develops within a specified society or period: the traditional farming wisdom of India. (Apple dictionary)

And re culture and place? And re Harbin Hot Springs, both actually and virtually?  ... :)

What are you up to today, and this weekend?

Tutti frutti :)

Love, Scott

Dear Ma,

Re meetings and this thread ... glad to have heard back from Jerry Gabay and Quaker friends in Portland OR. He can probably meet there on 9/12. Will see about others.

I emailed Bruce Maxwell about a Scottish small piping group (and Rees and Jane Maxwell - no relation to Bruce, all of whom I know through Scottish circles in Bay) ... and haven't heard back yet.

Your mentioning Karla Boos & Quantum theater in Pgh lead me to find Jana Fredricks -

http://www.quantumtheatre.com/about/staff/jana-fredricks/

https://twitter.com/janakayfred?lang=en
- originally from New Orleans. Do you know her? (Are both Linda Argote and Jean Thomas originally from there too?)

... I need to get BPPE licensing and WASC senior accreditation going with physical address out here ... but while beautiful here, it could be better to raise kids in Pgh.

Have a great week, and welcome home! :)

Love, Scott
