General professional networking
Expanded description of your work
Am the Founder, President and Professor at CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School. Planning first online free-to-students' Ph.D., Law, and MD degrees in English, as we license with the state of California's BPPE and then accredit probably with WASC senior. Seeking to hire interns to develop WUaS online, provide graduate school opportunities, and eventually hire large numbers of faculty and staff - worlduniversityandschool.org (https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch). I also teach about the Network Society, Information Technology, and the Global University - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html - as well as about actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy.
Please describe how you would like to help Reed students and alumni.
World University and School might be of benefit to Reed - and potentially re careers for Reedies. First, World University and School would like to explore offering a required Hum 110 course online - inspiring especially - that WUaS might call Hum 101 and also for developing the conference method online (in group video to begin) at World University and School - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Conference_Method_of_Teaching_and_Learning - and eventually in ~200 countries' official languages. So WUaS would seek to hire, for example, to hire Reedies who have gone on to graduate school - to be graduate student instructors teaching sections of Hum 101 online - as WUaS develops. Second, WUaS would like to offer graduate school opportunities to Reedies - and for online Ph.D. degrees, as well as online MD and Law degrees, and eventually in ~200 nation states' languages, online. WUaS is in the process of licensing for Bachelor and Ph.D. degrees with the state of CA's BPPE presently. Third, WUaS would like to hire faculty and staff eventually from among Reedies. Fourth, WUaS also in 2017 became a second parallel legal entity - the WUaS Corporation - which is a for-profit general stock company. And WUaS would like to explore collaborating with FAR in developing this both online and on-the-ground with time - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html (https://twitter.com/WUaSPress). Reed could advance far with this wing, especially - and re collaboration!

Areas of research
My research focuses on the anthropology of actual-virtual, physical-digital Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic comparison and related ethnographic, sociological and STEM questions - scottmacleod.com. Scott G.K. MacLeod is an American academic and Professor of Sociocultural Anthropology at World University and School. He is currently also the publisher at the Academic Press at World University and School. MacLeod was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and grew up on the eastern seaboard of the U.S., attending Reed College in Portland, Oregon. He received a Master's Degree in anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Diploma of Research from the University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on the information technology network society age, the world wide web cosmos, and actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs. He is World University and School's founder, president, CEO and presiding clerk (in the manner of Friends/Quakers). Wiki World University and School is CC MIT OCW-centric (in 5 languages) and CC Yale OYC-centric and seeks to develop major universities in all ~200 countries' main and official languages, as well as wiki schools in all 7,111 known living languages; WUaS plans to offer online CC OCW Bachelor, Ph.D., law, M.D. as well as I.B. high school degrees, partly in group video. He is the author of "Naked Harbin Ethnography: Hippies, Warm Pools, Counterculture, Clothing-Optionality and Virtual Harbin" and a number of books of Harbin-inspired poetry.

to Larry
Dear Larry,
Thanks too for this email communication - https://twitter.com/MIT/status/1164680437345730560 - about a kind of atrocity, and how MIT handles this, - from MIT President Rafael Reif himself. World Univ & Sch has long not been able to communicate with President Reif, and would seek to do so much more in the future - and perhaps begin to become financially operational in the process.
Glad WUaS is Friendly/NtF/Quaker-informed both in terms of ethics, as well as financially. At bottom, here's Friends' Fiduciary's expense ratios for a variety of their Quaker mutual funds - http://www.friendsfiduciary.org/our-funds/investment-performance/ - with The Quaker Index Fund operating "with a tiered fee schedule of 0.30% (30 basis points) on the first $5 million, 0.25% (25 bps) on the next $5 million, and 0.20% (20 bps) on balances above $10 million" which at 10 million is close to the socially responsible Vanguard's FTSE index fund's expense ratio of .20 https://investor.vanguard.com/mutual-funds/profile/VFWIX - and a little above Vanguard's S&P index fund's expense ratio of .14 or .04% - https://investor.vanguard.com/mutual-funds/profile/VFINX.
Per the WUaS Minutes of 8/17/19 - https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2019/07/minutes-for-wuass-open-monthly-business.html - it would be great to explore a UBI as a way to alleviate poverty and distribute a single digital currency backed somehow by many of the ~200 countries' central banks.
So sorry for the victims of J.E. What an extraordinarily crazy situation. (And glad to have been a whistle-blower at SF QMeeting in these regards too - perhaps protecting some children even).
How best to communicate further with MIT President Rafael Reif about some of these related questions?
Sincerely, Scott
