Point Reyes National Seashore: * * "The orange flowers" * * Benefitting from electric bicycles - Copenhagen wheel idea - with very low gear ratios for hauling with 300 mile batteries each! :) * * I wish I could share this with you, and friends, from Google Glass, for example. I was amazed that I had internet on the whole walk in the woods - so this should be possible in the future into a realistic virtual earth * * Am interested in keying flowers with smart phones in general - all of them, since angiosperms, flowering plants, are keyable - and for that a realistic virtual earth https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarth?src=hashtag_click with comparable images could be helpful * * The idea for a hiker streaming their hike into Google Street View with Google Glass including flower pictures and videos would be like streaming video from a video camera on one's glasses into virtual Harbin ~ http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg ~

Hi Ma,

Am heading out for a day long venture probably to the Palomarin trail in the Pt. Reyes National Seashore. There's an event here at 670A. Good to be heading out, per request too.

Nice to talk last night! Did you sleep well?

Sending love, Scott

The orange flowers

Benefitting from  electric bicycles - Copenhagen wheel idea - with very low gear ratios for hauling with 300 mile batteries each for hauling heavy gear on a mountain path on foot with bicycle even ! :)

Streaming a whole walk in the woods with Google Glass (had internet on the whole walk in the forest)  into a realistic virtual earth

Am interested in keying flowers with smart phones in general - all of them, since angiosperms, flowering plants, are keyable - and for that a realistic virtual earth

Sounds like a great outing.  Have a lovely day.  If I were nearer, I’d invite myself along.  A couple of pictures maybe?

Love, Ma

That would be fun, Ma! Greetings from Stinson Beach where we once had lunch. The road is beautiful, and foggy with some mist on windshield  Basketball players were throwing a ball around without masks in the park in the center of town. Too bad I can't share this adventure with you in virtual world yet, so pictures will have to suffice! Thanks for your email! Love, Scott (pics to come!:)

Road to Palomarin trail was closed. Found Five Brooks trailhead with some horses and riders and am out walking in a pretty place now (with internet!) May head into the Pt Reyes National Seashore's main gate later even. Love, Scott

Pretty day here, Ma, ... Wish you could tag along too ! And perhaps I'll bring my life partner to be (?:) back to Pgh sometime, and we can all go for a hike in the Laurel Highlands, and then you can come out to visit us and we can come out to Pt Reyes Seashore! :) Love, Scott

How's your day gone, Ma? Back at car now, 9:30-1 underway ...pretty day ... A lot of people, diverse Californians ... Catching glimpses too of CA 'society' even or social roles somehow ... A fair number of horse riders, and bicyclers ... Think I saw a group heading for a backpacking overnight some with bicycles too ... 2 had straps attached to same cart with backpacks that they were hauling for the group .... They would have benefited from electric bicycles - Copenhagen wheel idea - with very low gear ratios for hauling with 300 mile batteries each! :)

Ma,

Main visitor's center is closed - "stop the spread" the NPS (National Park Service) roadside sign said, - but the parking lot is jam packed! People getting out from quarantine? Time for a brief nap, then another park visit or hike :)

Love, Scott

Can you take a closeup of the orange flower and maybe identify it?  It’s lovely.  Glad you’re having a good day.  Have you seen the ocean yet?

Love, Ma

Just got back to Canyon, and that was the only picture I took of the orange flowers. (I couldn't identify the flower on the spot). I suppose I could zoom in to this photo and try to identify them now using the web somehow, but I probably won't. Wanna try, - since you have the photo too ? :) Am interested in keying flowers with smart phones in general - all of them, since angiosperms, flowering plants, are keyable - and for that a realistic virtual earth https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarth?src=hashtag_click with comparable images could be helpful. After Five Brooks Trailhead and hike, I headed into Pt. Reyes National Seashore, and caught a glimpse of the Pacific through some thick fog - maybe the Pacific was up in the air :) ... Glad you're having a good weekend as well. Love, Scott

And here you can walk 4 miles in Street View to Middletown ... imagine streaming your walk with your Google Glass, and with photos of flowers too along the way

And here's the Five Brooks Trailhead and Pt. Reyes National Seashore area I was in with some poppies -

Love, Scott

Good morning, Ma!

I blogged a bit about our emails and my hike around the "Five Brooks' Trailhead" area and the Point Reyes National Seashore too - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/08/point-reyes-national-seashore-orange.html ! :) It's very beautiful there, and would be good in future trips to seek beforehand what might be interesting places in particular to visit! I'd love it if you invited yourself along on a subsequent hike out west here, or in the Pittsburgh area, or the Massachusetts' area too!

What are you up to today? (Is log jam about to break for my free-to-students' big educational project?:) Have a glance at 'Tom Jones' which book you'll find at the bottom of - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/08/malabar-parakeet-bishopton-scotland-dog.html - it might bring tears of mirth to your eyes!

Love, Scott
