Hi Candace, Carla, Reedies, All,

Candace just emailed me (whom I met at a Reed Reunion and went to a Hum 110 lecture with), so I'm writing to you to say hi, inquire how you're doing, and to share the following pictures from Reed 4 years ago.

Warm regards, Scott

Hi Candace,

sorry to hear you've had a rough year. I hope the upcoming year is treating you well.

CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch is growing step by step - with open online meetings, and talks on

Mondays, at 10a PT in the WUaS News and Q&A, for example -

Saturdays online too at 10:30a PT in 'Bay Area Stammtisch', in German & English -
https://twitter.com/sgkmacleod/status/1401250779009146883?s=19 (Languages - World Univ - with Google Meet link posted here on this Twitter feed) - AND - https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1401252415051997185?s=19 (with colorful Harbin related Tweets here as info) - in Google Meet video conferencing. You're welcome to join either.

Glad former Reed President John Kroger is returning to Portland (from being VP at the Aspen Institute) to teach a class on Jurisprudence at Lewis & Clark Law School. Maybe he can address any legal cases that emerged at Reed while there - in a physical courtroom, or law offices. I've whistle-blown about ethical wrong-doing at Reed in recent years, and asked to be removed from Reed's email lists. Maybe John Kroger could become the Vice President of World Univ & Sch with his Reed experience and regarding not only upcoming free to students' Bachelor degrees and PhD degrees planned for this autumn 2021 (and we have our first PhD candidate in statistics in Indonesia - see above Tweet) but also for WUaS law schools since John has a law degree - with online WUaS MEDICAL DEGREES and IB high school degrees also planned - in all 200 countries and their main languages.

World Univ & Sch continues to seek to facilitate the -

Conference_Method_of_Teaching_and_Learning online for our matriculating undergraduates (graduate students too!) -

World Univ & Sch's open Monthly Business Meeting meets also on 3rd Saturdays if you'd like to join - at 9am PT (and is an hour long only).

Am living in a 'safe house' presently just north of Berkeley having whistle blown about Canyon last year by calling the local police twice, and making 3 official reports, where the sheriff came to my place to take them, ...  and in writing that I'm living in a 'safe house' on the federal USPO form to renew the World Univ and Sch address in Canyon, I get over there somewhat regularly to pick up WUaS & my mail.

Working from home ahead has some merit - with many organizations exploring new possibilities in these regards due to coronavirus pandemic I think (5 related 'Hypothetical News' items from 4/2020, many more thoughts about the 'gene meme' throughout blog since then). Is working from home an opportunity for all of us? Certainly & with Harvard granting more than 7000 degrees and certificates recently, they also seem to be saying that remote education is viable, and rewardable with degrees!

Hoping you have a good year, and Reunion. Please let me know if you'd like to join any of the World Univ & Sch online meetings, Candace! Exciting potential to further develop education online in innovative ways - and with great online free degrees, emerging for MIT OCW and Yale OYC, - and wiki people to people online education in all 7139 known living languages and 200 countries. Brainstorming-wise WUaS is seeking to code for not only speakers of all 7139 languages, but for all 7.8 billion people on planet as wiki teachers and learners ~ https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University ! Facilitating free universal education ahead is a once in a blue moon opportunity :)

Cheers,
Scott

How's life in Canyon?

I had a rough last year, but I just took a new position that will be very exciting - normally this position would be in Denver or DC, but thanks to Covid changing everything, I don't even have to leave my house!  It's crazy - I had lined up a job that would be full time travel that I was really looking forward to, but when this one came up they made me an offer I couldn't refuse, so now I have to figure out how to make working from home work for me.

Hi Gina,

Done ... For your information, there is at least one wiki subject at MIT OCW-centric World Univ & Sch which seems relevant to your recent book - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Computer_Music (and check out the initial MIT OCW eventually for credit; accessible from - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Subjects) - but unfortunately WUaS isn't hiring at this time.

Thanks,
Scott
And this could be relevant too, depending if one created a new WUaS wiki subject page -

Hi Jetta,

Greetings in Alaska from the SF Bay Area! How are you otherwise?
I've removed your email from this thread! Some Pacific Crest Trail blog posts here for example (and both humorous and a bit VR & IT oriented) - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/03/high-sierra-snow-pack-heres-beginning.html - and here for example - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/09/commelina-communis-wiki-teaching.html. Thanks again for your kind help in mailing our food boxes in 1980, and so much more with regard to that wondrous journey! For me the benefits of community building outweigh what you write about, and is an opportunity with this information technology (and for more reasons) - and as one who lived in a number of communal houses at Reed, as well. Thank you for sharing your concern. Stanford Law CodeX

[codex_group_meetings] TODAY! CodeX Mtg (6/10 @1.30p): AUORMS; Computational Antitrust; InCloudCounsel - via Zoom

Roland, Nabiha, Thibault, Mitch,

Thanks for your great CodeX presentations today - https://twitter.com/CodeXStanford/status/1402679615093571598?s=20

I've shared my Stanford Law CodeX-World University and School possible collaborations' announcements and LinkedIn networking below. Thibault, Roland and All, in a very big environment, I'm wondering how "Stanford Mine Pi", the digital currency, and its emerging blockchain, might navigate computational antitrust questions - https://law.stanford.edu/codex-the-stanford-center-for-legal-informatics/computational-antitrust-project/ -.where I see nothing about cryptocurrency or blockchain ledger on this page. I ask in the process of developing CC-4 MIT OCW-centric, wiki World University and School planned in ~200 countries, per the Olympics, 7,139 languages, per the number of known living languages in the world, and brainstorming-wise for all 7.8 billion people on the planet eg here - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University - conceptually, and as wiki teachers and learners (where Wikipedia is in 300 languages). In this context, WUaS would plan to code for all the people on the planet, each a Wikidata Q-item #, or Wikidata Pin #, and in order to facilitate a single mineable cryptocurrency, backed by most of ~200 countries' central banks (post Euro in 19 out of 28 nation states, and post US $, a de facto international currency), - and significantly in order to end poverty via mineable Universal Basic Income Experiments. (FYI< WUaS donated ourselves to Wikidata, which is Wikipedia's "back end" structured knowledge database in 300 languages in 2015, and received a related "front end" WUaS MediaWiki in 2017, but which are not yet interoperable, and received further a related WUaS OpenCura WBstacks Wikibase platform in 2020, which would interoperate WUaS's Wikidata and MediaWiki). You can read more about aspects of the enormous project at the top here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/06/pink-necked-green-pigeon.html . And part of this would involve communication, conceptually, with SEC commissioner Hester Peirce (with whom I've already communicated on Twitter), and with MIT Digital Currency Director (DCI) Neha Narula, a computer scientist. You can see a MIT Bitcoin Expo video on this blog page of them too -

And here's the idea regarding questions about blockchain and antitrust competition (with more in the #WUaSBlockChainLedger hashtag and related) -

"Thnx @HesterPeirce @neha for great talk https://mitbitcoinexpo.org/speakers.html Thoughts abt #StanfordMinePi & #BlockchainReg & re #WUaSUBIexperiments to end poverty for 7.8 billion people in ~200 countries to DISTRIBUTE #SingleCryptocurrency backed by most central banks https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/05/purple-chinese-houses-collinsia.html?"

Re-tweeting:
"Today, “Let’s talk Blockchain regulation! EU/SEC/Coindesk/Stanford - Blockdata” @joinClubhouse I’ll speak along with @LeConcurrential @NoelleInMadrid @jpknegtel @HesterPeirce I’ll address legislation, regulatory sandboxes, innovation, the European Blockchain Partnership, EBSI"

https://twitter.com/HarbinBook/status/1389662759235710976?s=19

What are some of the 'build-out' computational antitrust issues that might emerge, or that might even be shaped and defined (thinking too even of all 200 countries, and not just the USA, and the European Union for example)?

Thank you for your helpful CodeX presentations today, and have a great summer!

All the best,
Scott

PS
Conceptually, here the beginning Law schools, and World Univ & Schs, in some of the 200 countries in the world:

Nation States - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States (planned in ~200 countries as major online MIT OCW-centric universities, offering Bachelor, PhD, Law, MD and IB high school or similar)
Languages - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages (planned in 7,139 known living languages, where Wikidata is in 800 languages, Google Translate is in about 100 languages, and CC-4 MIT OCW is in 4 languages currently)

Law Schools at World University and School (planned in main languages in them)

Afghanistan Law School at WUaS: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Afghanistan_Law_School_at_WUaS

Brazil Law School at WUaS: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Brazil_Law_School_at_WUaS

It's fascinating and will help many people - since the online Law degrees will be free (relating to the MIT OCW's Creative Commons-4 licensing). Will add you to the WUaS monthly business meeting email list, Nabiha (until you say unsubscribe). Great project you shared - from India

Hello, World Univ & Sch's online law schools - and in collaboration with Stanford Law CodeX even? -
https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1396290249232240643?s=20 - are developing. Glad to have our first prospective PhD student in Indonesia - and with a CC-4 MIT OCW-centric statics and economics' major. Thanks, Roland!

World University Law School URL - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Law_School - in India too, see URL part way down

Nonopa: Where do you see this in 5 years?

At present - and it depends a lot on all of our engagement, Nonopa - Bachelor and PhD degrees beginning again 9/1/21, Law School in English (maybe in USA & beyond) 9/1/22?, Medical School in English 9/1/23, IB high school / similar 9/1/24? …. Other countries’ law schools, and in these countries’ language partly depend on machine learning, AI, NLP developments, and lawyer engagement in your countries).

Dear Thibault, Roland, Nabiha, Mitch,

Thanks so much for your email reply, Thibault. If we proceed with the conversation about blockchain antitrust, how best might we do so in dialogue with actually building out a blockchain ledger potentially for 'Stanford Mine Pi' cryptocurrency, for all 7.8 billion people on the planet, each a Wikidata Pin #, and in ~200 countries and 7k languages?

Roland - thanks to Thibault so much for suggesting further conversation regarding institutional partnerships between Stanford Law CodeX and CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School. How might we best explore this further, Roland? Thank you, Thibault and Roland!
