Dear buero-bundeskanzlerin.ad@

Thank you for the follow-up and for the additional context on World
University and School.
Our position remains as set out in my note of July 20:
Abstract-Technology's engagements are delivered exclusively on a paid,
contractual basis to funded institutions with clearly defined scopes. We
are not in a position to explore speculative or hypothetical
arrangements, nor to engage on prospective growth scenarios ahead of
confirmed funding.
Should WUaS in future secure allocated funding tied to a specific,
scoped requirement - for example a defined platform build with a
confirmed budget, timeline and decision-making stakeholder - we would be
open to reviewing a concrete request at that point. Until then, we do
not have the capacity to take the conversation forward.
I will not be joining the Weekly Business Meeting on July 27, and I
would ask once more to be removed from the recurring meeting CC list and
the related mailing threads, as these sit outside the scope of a
commercial conversation.
We genuinely wish World University and School every success with its
mission.
Best regards,
---

Is the Open EdX Europe platform in all European Union languages or most of them or how could it be developed for this & potentially by free-to-students' World Univ & Sch adding CC4 licensed MIT OCW in 7 languages https://opencw. aprende.org/courses/ translated-courses/ (some of which are outside the EU) & ocw.mit.edu to it?
Language Support in Open edX
The Open edX platform itself does not inherently come pre-configured in every single official European Union language out-of-the-box, but it has robust internationalization architecture managed largely through community localization projects on Transifex.
Major European languages—such as French, German, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Dutch, Polish, Romanian, Swedish, Danish, Hungarian, Latvian, and Estonian—either have complete or near-complete translation strings (frequently hitting 98–100% completion metrics via the Open edX Translation Working Group). However, smaller regional or official EU minority languages may still lack full native interface localization unless specifically built out.
Development Pathways for Full Multilingual Expansion
To scale an open education ecosystem to cover all EU languages (and beyond), a deployment can utilize a multi-layered approach:
- Transifex & Community Crowdsourcing: Open edX relies on GNU gettext translation files (
.po/.mo) andreact-intlfor JavaScript components. Expanding platform support to additional languages involves pulling localization packs from the centralopenedx-translationsrepository or initiating localized community projects for missing European tongues. - Dynamic AI-Driven Content Translation: While platform UI strings are static, integrating modern LLM-based translation pipelines (similar to how edX deploys automated course translations across massive catalogs) allows text, transcripts, and assessment materials to be dynamically translated into dozens of languages on demand.
Integrating CC-BY Creative Commons MIT OCW Content
Integrating open educational resources—such as MIT OpenCourseWare materials available under Creative Commons licenses—into a multi-language Open edX environment involves a structured pipeline:
- Ingestion via Open Learning XML / Studio: MIT OCW courses (and mirrored repositories like translated collections) can be structured and imported into Open edX’s course authoring tool (Studio) using standard course export/import formats or XBlock components.
- Licensing Alignment: Because MIT OCW courses are typically licensed under Creative Commons (such as CC BY-NC-SA or similar variants, while specific projects utilize CC 4.0 frameworks), maintaining attribution and open-access compliance is natively supported by Open edX's architecture, which allows course teams to clearly display licensing metadata on course footers and about pages.
- Multilingual Course Structuring: By organizing translated modules (derived from repositories containing multi-language subsets) as localized runs or parallel track offerings within an Open edX instance, learners can seamlessly switch between language tracks while retaining the core open curriculum.
