Arriving at Sierra Hot Springs
Sierra Hot Springs
in the very beautiful Sierra Valley
in northern California
is a welcome way point
on my journey to Oregon
to visit family.
I stopped in at the lodge,
registering late at night,
camped by the meditation pool
and awoke to ponderosa pines,
marsh willows, and a grand, open valley.
I first went into the pool,
then to the lodge,
where, in the green room,
I heard chanting of kirtan,
and a harmonium.
What a pleasant sound.
A woman came out,
with a bindi.
Is she Spanish?
And then a girl
- her daughter? -
with a bindi, as well.
I never saw this here before.
The wood in the lodge here
is beautiful, and settling ~
an expression of California.
To the pool in the Dome soon.
