Dear Pat, Orinda Books, Larry,  

Nice to see you again Yesterday, at Orinda Books' bookstore. Thanks too for the great book suggestion -  "Machines Like Me" by Ian McEwan, recommended by her, and partly apparently about robotics or synthetic people in novel form), with some parallels to (Nobel Lit Prize laureate) Kazuo Ishiguro's "Klara and the Sun." Am continuing to wonder about 7.9 billion personal robots for each of us on planet earth - and possibly as teachers and learners, for 'Socratic Dialogue' philosophical approaches to learning too? 

And thanks so much especially for the notes including the web site https://www.cccoe.k12.ca.us/ -- but also especially suggesting reaching out to specific schools, and districts, like

Here's the blog post from after our first meetings last week which I mentioned - 

And I'd like to introduce you to Larry Viehland, (in Pgh PA), who's the chair of the WUaS Boards (both wings, presently)

And regarding WUaS as distribution center potentially for Lego Robotics' kits potentially sold by Orinda Books, (but even by INDEPENDENT BOOKSELLERs as a group, & in each of ALL California counties, and then extended further even ..., and perhaps with WUaS beginning our own bookstores and cafes too ...)

as well as to counties ... and in all 7,139 known living languages, thanks to the Web esp. and related IT platforms ... 

.. with California approved standard curriculum - Common Core State Standards (CCSS) - and even regarding Curriculum from Lego's Leanna Prater in Kentucky, for example.

You'd make such a great e-manager, Pat, because you know just where to head with these questions proactively (having been on the Contra Costa county School Board 12 years ago), and are smart and quick and capable and so knowledgeable about the book business, as well as the Lego book business per Orinda Books!

That said, I think we and WUaS need to hold off for a while until we hear back from our Lego contacts, Leanna and Soren - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/12/ochoco-old-growth-forests-oregon.html (where you can see Leanna and Soren's Twitters+) - and figure out with (somewhat controlling Lego itself - and is it thanks to Soren that WUaS Press is an authorized carrier of Lego Robotics' kits - am wondering, since I've met him in person) what might be possible if WUaS could become an on-the-ground distributor to bookstores for Lego Robotics' kits, and see again - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/12/ochoco-old-growth-forests-oregon.html -  and WUaS is so glad, again, that we're an authorized ONLINE reseller of Lego Robotics' (as is Barnes and Nobles' bookstores, online, I recently found out).

Also do you happen to know by any chance, my friends' Byron and Cindy Hann MDs? (Byron is a good friend from Reed College in the early 1980s, and they live in Moraga only about 4 miles from where I lived in Canyon for about 13 years, which is where the WUaS PO Box is too).

https://www.orindabooks.com/ . Great to hear you've known the state senator Steve Glazer for years now. I went into again re 4 recent tax bills for WUaS CORPORATION (3 of them were duplicates). You have a nice spacious store, in asking, brainstorming wise, about you carrying Lego Robotics' kits, for which WUaS Corporation is an authorized reseller, and regarding the WUaS Press's books too. (Thanks too to the person who  showed me your Lego books yesterday, only one of which had a few Lego pieces in it). Interesting to learn you don't have any Lego Robotics' kits.

Could we share information further about this, brainstorming wise, and regarding in Contra Costa county students and young STEM Robotics' learning and research re - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html - as well as Orinda Books?


Brainstorming wise, 

from the perspective of WUaS Press Publisher Educational Services' Distribution Centers, Computer & Robotics' stores ... 


1 Could WUaS become an authorized on the ground distribution center (and not just from our developing website planned in many languages) for Lego Robotics' kits in your store to your great advantage? How?


2 Could WUaS Academic Press also distribute some of the 5 WUaS books, if WUaS Press books weren't available through a larger distribution center like Ingram (with easy returns for example)? (I worked in a bookstore Publishing House back east for some years and there (Pendle Hill Quaker Center for Study and Contemplation) the bookstore ordered from Ingram too for example, and took 40% of the price on the book's cover, And Pendle Hill Center as Publishing House took 60% of the PH books' cover price. Ingram also took 60%, and I think sent 40% to the books' publishers.


3 Could WUaS also set up somehow a WUaS display case, like the Penguin carousel you have Penguin books on ... And to make available both WUaS Books and the 3 Lego Robotics' kits ... And especially to let Orinda residents know of free-to-students' upcoming CC-4 MIT OCW-CENTRIC degrees from home, - Bachelor, PhD, and IB High School,  ... with home robotics in the MOT OCW-CENTRIC engineering degrees + eg with https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/experimental-study-group/es-293-lego-robotics-spring-2007/ ?


4 Could Contra Costa county be part of the reimbursement mechanism to WUaS, for these OCW.mit.edu centric Free to Students' degrees from home? For poorer Contra Costa students for Lego Robotics' kits to WUaS and Orinda Books? Could Contra Costa county somehow guarantee revenue to Orinda Books' bookstore monthly? Could WUaS build on Orinda Books' bookstore supplying some books to Contra Costa county schools?


5 in what ways further could Orinda Books benefit from this, in Lego Robotics' sales, and books' sales, and as re the CC-4 MIT OCW-CENTRIC WORLD UNIV AND SCH outreach ...from the counties' department of Education ... and could this also become a model for developing our Actual Virtual Physical Digital Lego Robotics' Engineering in a realistic virtual earth for Lego Robotics? Thoughts, ideas, suggestions for connecting with state senator Steve Glazer for WIaS Corporation's getting off the ground, and county reimbursement to WUaS questions - in a kind of triangulation? ...

Without any WUaS capital yet, WUaS could as authorized reseller of Lego ROBOTICS' kits would seek to 'pass through' as a distribution center (distributor or publisher) our WUaS Lego Robotics' kits (re returning and shop wear questions etc. too) and Orinda Books'  bookstore and WUaS would receive a standard share of any sales. If Orinda Books was interested, I'd email contact Lego's Leanna Prater in Kentucky and lawyer Soren Jorgensen at his Stanford University Fellowship about how to proceed with Lego re terms and arrangements,.later contacting state senator Steve Glazer in Contra Costa county) ...

Thoughts on the phone? How might we best explore some of these questions further, besides my reaching out to the schools you suggested?
