Hi Scott,

I hope you are well. It's been a long time. I want to enquire about the course credits earned through OCW. If anyone has 120 credits (which is the minimum for bachelors in North America) in a particular area of education, could you help convert that into a bachelor's degree?

Regards, Shahbaz

Hi Shahbaz, MWENDE, Universitians, All,

Nice to hear from you, Shahbaz, after quite a long time. How are you? To respond to your question, and with regards to a new "CS First with Google" course (https://csfirst.withgoogle.com/s/en/home) I just found, which like CC-4 MIT OCW is also Creative Commons' 4 licensed  -

If someone "must complete 120 college credits to earn a bachelor's degree," and "that's about 40 classes, which most people assume you can complete in 4 years"

1 15-16 week (four months) CC-4 MIT OCW course is each 3 credit units, eg - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/architecture/ - if completed, and taken at World Univ & Sch.

So to complete a free-to-students' Bachelor's degree at WUaS taking newly potentially CC-4  "CS First with Google" and then about 3 MIT OCW courses per WUaS term (January-April, May-August, and September-December, so 4 month terms ...) I'm hoping that more CC-4 MIT OCW courses, for their depth and breadth of knowledge, will be adapted in WUaS Google for Education and with Google templates (somehow, and possibly), and that a student would have to take 10 MIT OCW-centric courses each year, each undergraduate year for 4 years, for a free-to-student's WUaS Bachelor's degree. Does this help?

So, Mwende, you could COMPLETE the "CS First with Google" course for credit, but WUaS is still figuring out the number of credit units for this, either 1, 2 or 3 units, relating to a CC-4 MIT OCW course. I still haven't heard back from Google for Education, with a class code however for your taking "CS First with Google" so let's plan for you to begin taking this around January 1, 2022, if at all possible, and if WUaS hears back from Google for Education. More about Mwende's and my recent communications about some of this and 'CS First with Google' here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/12/bigbasinredwoodsstatepark_01641564959.html (and please open a Scratch account for your personal use - https://scratch.mit.edu/users/ScottWorldUnivAndSch/ although Google's 'CS First" adapts Scratch programming language for their project.

Hoping to share the registration link for these free-to-students' Bachelors degrees from WUaS admin.google.com/ or similar, in January 2022, Mwende and All,

Thoughts, questions, ideas, suggestions?

Season's Greetings, Merry Solstice, and Happy New Year!

Regards,

Scott
