🙂 Appreciating its evolutionary history and of the Klamath mountain areas in northern California and southern Oregon, and its unique plant evolution, its perspective on time, as well as its natural focus out of an environmental consciousness. How are you? How do you think the experience of being friends changes from when you are in your 20s to your 50s to your 80s? Do you think you were friends differently with Jean Thomas in the 1980s compared with the 2010s? Do you think you made new friends differently in the 1980s for example compared with the 2010s? 

In seeking a partner for family and a friend am curious what role one's age plays here too (apart from place and culture - eg Pittsburgh, its values regarding friends, but partly which I think I learned from you, - and time wise re the 1970s ...)

Seeking friendly life partner friend ... I find Nidhi Chanani here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/05/california-buckwheat.html?m=0 - in the video too, an interesting possible friend for Pin Mazumdar (due to their similarities in part), although both Pin and Nidhi are married to someone else ... Could I find an attractive mid-20s friend and life partner who is somewhat similar to me and culture wise too ... (even a MD to be?:)

Why write prose?

As a literary device, prose is a way for writers to communicate with readers in a straightforward, even conversational manner and tone. This creates a level of familiarity that allows the reader to connect with the writer's expression, narrative, and characters. An example of the effective familiarity of prose is J.D....

... Which goes on ...

"What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it."

So friends and communication and via writing too ... And leading to further communication as friends per the above snippet giving meaning to writing as one example ...

So write to communicate to make friends further (rather than feel isolated from people somehow ...? ... Eg Re not really having heard back from many people about my boss or blog ... Although Tom Boellstorff gave me a fair amount of positive feedback after I published my "Naked Harbin Ethnography" book (2016, WUaS Academic Press), which came into conversation with his Coming of Age in SL: An Anthropologist Explores the Virtually Human" Princeton University Press 2008) ... 

Why do I write? Why write (and philosophy wise)? Share ideas? Teach and learn? Develop conversations?

Back to the Desiderata (thanks George):

Speak your truth quietly and clearly


Even though I don't get much feedback about my writing, it and publishing are a way of speaking my truth QUIETLY and clearly (could write better Prose and Poetry:) ... And the future is ahead:)

Yay for the Desiderata for MEANING (philosophy and somehow personally and explication wise ...:) ...

But friends have more meaning, or are more meaningful, for me, and are more interactive too ... than writing at times ... :)

There may be a 'slew' of old issues around attacking people and innocent people and kids and women and victims playing out re Canyon and beyond, in a wide spread conversation, even between states and countries, so I'm laying low re 'dream house' language of Navinchandra too ... 

 
A bit too isolated in this ongoing post pandemic self-quarantine time, I wonder how socialist will emerge from this self quarantine time, and re my beginning a family with a life partner too, ... appreciating too Ed's gift of the book 'The Overstory' by Richard Powers a MacArthur foundation  recipient, and also social media like Twitter and blogging. Greetings from the SF Bay Area and north of Berkeley. How are you?

Great to hear from you both recently. 

Following up on friendship ideas and thinking, and writing: 

One writes something, publishez it, and then doesn't hear anything back from anyone (am thinking blog for example, eg - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/Friends?m=0) ... which writing isn't exactly FRIENDSHIP as I know it from your way of being, Ma, but I think I blog about this out of a similar kayaking inclination to make friends and be friendly. (Am reminded of the beautiful round 'Make new friends and keep the old' here). Why write and publish something, or help others publish something (in this land of the USA, and SF Bay Area, of Free Speech)? To help others with the conversation about life and idea sharing and knowledge generation, I'm suggesting ... and friendship thinking especially. Partly writing here idea-wise is about making conscious thinking about friendship.

Am exploring these ideas further here in yesterday's blog post, on 4/5/22 - 

I think also, like with Work World University and School and WUAS Monthly Business Meeting, writing is a bit of a Friendly leading for me (with some Quaker links to these concepts here ScottMacLeod.com - and as Clerk of course).
