Dear Mohammed (Community Communications Manager for Wikidata/Wikibase, in Ghana, or Berlin), Universitians, VOLCANO Mwende, Lydia (who's on vacation until May 28 from autorespond to the WUaS News and Q&A email for 5/16/22 on Sunday evening), Gerard (in Philippines?, and prospective PhD student in Management and Sociology beginning Sept 1, 2022 potentially), Larry, Ed, All,

Regarding the wiki World University and School migration to Wikbase.cloud regarding WUaS interoperating with Wikidata since 2015, and underway now:

a
Thanks so much for letting World Univ & Sch know that the Wikibase.cloud migration completion has been postponed from today, May 17, to May 24th. This is fantastic news for the growth of World Univ & Sch's wikis, and here's a specific example of where World University and School may head now, perhaps creating WUaS world class university libraries' INSTANCES in Wikibase paralleling each of all  200 countries creation of their own national libraries and with the Wikidata & Wikibase SPARQL (not SQL querying language, but with parallels database-wise) platforms (and see the Wikibase Showcase below too) -

Thanks too Mohammed (https://twitter.com/masssly) for just retweeting this Wikidata Tweet about cryptocurrency:

Cryptocurrency, Probability distributions and Rivers: here is what happened around #Wikidata over the past week! https://wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Status_updates/2022_05_16

https://twitter.com/wikidata/status/1526216199410941952?s=20&t=flhxDTN6HRaOaF9T_LTTnQ

Am aware that a single cryptocurrency like Stanford Mine Pi (eg with invitation here: https://minepi.com/sgkmac) distributed via UBI experiments to end poverty to all 7.9 billion people on the planet (in ~200 countries potenitally), each a Wikidata Pin# - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University - could be 'housed' in Wikidata itself and in conjunction with the German National Library (again from Tweet, here - https://www.dnb.de/EN/Home/home_node.html ), In conjunction with CC-4 ocw.mit.edu-centric wiki World Univ & Sch and the WUaS Press (), this would be in conjunction with wiki people-to-people FREE UNIVERSAL EDUCATION (a vision from the French Enlightenment too)

c
I've noticed in these WUaS Wikibase.cloud migration communications too, that Wikidata could be interested in the WUaS Press, and WUaS publishing, and in all 7,151 known living languages and extinct ones too, with machine translation, and machine learning, and potentially regarding the Physical-Digital WUaS Educational Services' stores, bookstores, computer stores, and Robot stores. What I didn't mention in yesterday's WUaS News and Q&A for 5/16/22 - https://youtu.be/IeHCQJyH95M accessible in yesterday's 'glob' post from 5/16/22 -
https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/05/rwenzori-mountains-uganda-drc.html - regarding developing #WUaSrobotics, and potentially building on the new Google Store in Williamsburg, NY, after the 1st Google NYC store in Chelsea part of NYC (since Google is developing Robotics too) is that Physical-Digital WUaS Educational Services' stores, bookstores, Robot stores - and regarding WUaS educational retail stores in all 200 countries and in all 7151 living languages - is that WUaS Robotics will be teaching and learning focused - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Robotics

Thanks for this remarkable WUAS Wikibase.cloud migration development since at least 2015 when CC-4 ocw.mit.edu -centric wiki World Univ & Sch WUaS began to interoperate with the open Wikidata, in ~ 300 languages, and for codevelopment (and got WUaS MediaWiki in 2017, and Wikibase Stacks WBstacks.com in 2020 and where WUaS is now in the midst of a migration to Wikibase.cloud ... with potential implications for coding for all 7.9 billion people on the planet in 7151 living languages - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University - and as wiki teachers and learners :) (As Computer Scientist Phil Windley continues to point out the identity questions regarding cryptocurrencies continue to be enormous, having just retweeted https://twitter.com/heathervescent/status/1526372850982039552 on his Twitter feed here - https://twitter.com/windley/status/1526257851508789248?s=20&t=flhxDTN6HRaOaF9T_LTTnQ  - and which questions WUaS is also exploring in the WUaS Minutes too - https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/search/label/Business%20Meeting).

Sat., 5/21/22 WUaS Agenda and News for open Monthly Business Meeting for this Saturday to come still

Who here would like to create their own Wikibase instance of Libraries, Museums, Research, Science, Collections? :)

Libraries -
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Library_Resources (WUaS is planning to code for ALL libraries ever, and in all languages, - and in a realistic virtual earth for libraries, and think Google Street View with time slider, TensorFlowAI and Translate +)

Museums -
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Museums  (WUaS is planning to code for ALL museums ever, and in all languages, - and in a realistic virtual earth for museums, and think Google Street View with time slider, TensorFlowAI and Translate +)

Research -

Science -

This WUaS migration to Wikibase.cloud  is creating oceans, scientific field sites, universes and galaxies ... which could all input into a realistic virtual earth /universe for everything :)

All be best, Scott

Wikibase Showcase, and Wikidata and Wikbase interrelate below this -

Showcase

Who uses Wikibase? Any organization can use it to manage and open up their structured data, and many do—in particular, data-minded GLAM organizations across the world. Here’s a sampling of them and their projects using Wikibase.

Libraries

Libraries frequently find Wikibase well suited to their requirements: it provides librarians with powerful collaboration tools with no need for prior in-depth knowledge of linked open data principles.

Research

Wikibase offers the greenfield conditions often needed by collections with large bodies of custom data in order to create an accurate representation of the unique information in their hands.

Science

We see universities and research groups using Wikibase for its flexibility and ease in collaboration, and we see it helping them bring fascinating bodies of information to light.

Collections

Perhaps no subset of Wikibase’s usership leaps as readily to one’s mind as the scientific community: huge amounts of raw data, multiple collaborators, every project’s data structure wildly different and ripe for federation.

What is the difference between Wikibase and Wikidata?Edit

Wikibase is a suite of knowledge-base software for managing linked open data, originally written for and still used by the Wikidata project.

Wikidata is the largest instance of Wikibase, a free knowledge base that anyone can edit. Its data is used by Wikipedia, by its sister projects and by anyone else who wants to make use of a large amount of open general-purpose data.

Is there a list of Wikibase instances?Edit

Although there’s no single canonical list, on our Showcase page we highlight several notable instances. For more comprehensive information you can check out the voluntary Wikibase registry and this list of federated query endpoints.

Wikibase.Cloud scheduled migration delays' email and reply

Mohammed Sadat Abdulai

Mon, May 16, 7:56 AM (1 day ago)
to Mohammed, bcc: me

Hello,

In April we informed you about the scheduled migration of your wiki between May 3 and May 17. We kindly request you for a bit more patience, as we currently estimate the migration of your wiki to be finished by May 24.

We have slowed down the migration process as after migrating the first wbstack.com wikis to Wikibase Cloud platform we have recognized that certain technical details of the platform could be adjusted.

We noticed on Friday morning that our session storage in Redis was struggling to keep up with the amount of traffic it was receiving even before we should have had any real traffic on the platform.

In order to ensure good quality of the services we provide to you we are going to make the necessary changes over the course of this week, along with proceeding with migrating your wikis over.

Many thanks for your patience. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to swe_partnerships@wikimedia.de
