So nice to see you, Susan (my Scottish Country Dancing friend and Scottish-American friend from the 2nd half of the 1970s), a bit after 5 in your Northland Public Library, Pgh, - and what a nice surprise to see the beautiful little chicks that had just hatched in your part of the library. Thanks for showing them to me. New fluffy life like these 3 chicks is amazing! 

While I came to Northland library to see if I could find an WSJ article on AI Large Language Models in Africa (see PPS below) that John Palfrey had tweeted about and for a chapter in my upcoming book tentatively entitled "Society, Information Technology, and the Global University" - and found and read this article on paper in your helpful library (whereas the day before at the Oakmont Carnegie Public Library I couldn't access either THE digital or paper M 5/8/23 WSJ issue with this) - seeing the newly hatched chicks as we talked made me wonder how a researcher could ADD genes back into these chicks to double their lifespans re aging reversal and longevity genetic drug therapies emerging 
 (https://youtu.be/bnCEIPQFNnk). Turns out, chickens can live 10 - 12 years (see PS). Could we create hens that lay eggs for 24 years or longer? ... a bit differently from the goose that laid the golden egg! :)


JUST Received YESTERDAY too a first email from Kaiser Permanente NorCal inviting me to log in for a message from my PCP (Javier DeLeon MD) ... and with the option to select prescription updates. Wow, good to know I should have health coverage upon moving back into a newly safe Canyon 94516 on September 1 2023 - and regarding possibly getting prescription aging reversal and genetic drug therapies from KP well into the future (which I won't share with any chickens :) I might start to cultivate) and in the Physical-Digital WUaS Longevity Genetics' Institute up on the ridge in Canyon - and where you all have visited me ... "There have been a lot of discussions about the risks of AI, and I've been part of those discussions," he said. "But there are not enough discussions about what we need to do to put AI to really good use." 

Over the years, the largest and most prestigious annual AI research conferences have typically been held in the U.S. or Canada, close to Silicon Valley, which remains an out-side force in AI research. 

African researchers were often unable to attend as they had trouble getting visas, drawing criticism over an absence of their perspectives in developing one of the most powerful and transformative technologies. 

Prominent researchers, including AI ethicist Timnit Gebru, have pointed to the concentration of research into a few dominant players in Silicon Valley and the lack of inclusion of non-Western researchers or those from marginalized groups. In 2017, Ms. Gebru, who grew up in Ethiopia before arriving in the U.S. as a refugee, founded an affinity group called Black in AI to bring more diversity into the community. 

Rwanda typically gives visas to researchers, regardless of company or country. The country , marred by brutal genocide in 1994, is now a budding hub of African AI research through new research centers and government programs aimed at attracting international talent. 

The resulting mix was a study in contrasts: Huawei employees chatted with Google counterparts despite U.S.-China tech tensions, resource-strapped academics lamented to friends at wealthy companies and African researchers challenged Western peers to look beyond the perspectives of coastal elites in developed countries.

On Friday, Ms. Gebru hosted a panel on the limitations of large language models - the technology that underpins ChatGPT - in handling African languages, which have been increasingly excluded from the digital world because of a lack of data needed for current AI technologies. Ms. Gebru gained public prominence when she said she was fired by Google after she co-wrote a paper criticizing the exploding impacts of such models, which also underpin Google's search engine. Internally, Google characterized her departure as a resignation. 

During a separate panel, Vukosi Marivate, the data science chair at the University of Pretoria in South Africa and program chair of the conference, said African researchers were fighting the threat of losing their native languages. "We're racing against the clock" before English takes over and African languages cease to exist, he said after the event.

Yesterday, I was at the Oakmont Carnegie Library and for the 2nd time in a row, there was a nearly naked woman sitting in the back yard of the house next door. Soon after I came into the library to write my "Society, Information Technology and the Global University" book further, and work with Lego Robotics with Scratch programming language, a voice cake over the loud speaker system saying something about "Special Forces" totally incongruously for a public library ... And I was reminded of the sick! craven psychopath? frederic khayat here about 2 months ago saying something about "Special Forces" as something he might possibly aspire to in the illegal swiss army??? in Pgh perhaps. As someone f.k who may see prostitutes himself, is this woman twice in the back yard  next door a prostitute, and even with some very weird relationship with this often empty library and its patrons?  Did an evicted ill frederic khayat with his fellow criminals trace my traveling to this library and then remotely broadcast this "Special Forces" words in a sentence I think? Could some sort of western PA military group with self styled "social forces" being seeing this woman as part ofvthe illegal sex industry internationally (eg with f khayat from Lebanon via French speaking Switzerland for ex.? and as latent networks of violence too)?

Could f khayat even be over here at 210 East End Avenue Pgh PA 15221 staying with kristy b 'underground'  ... sometimes and putting 'phallic symbols' in the 3rd floor kitchen trash  ... for ex  like a flashy aluminum can prominently displayed in the trash  (for the homeless at the dump too?) that would better go in the recycling bin at the other end of the room? (unlikely to be stephon owens but it could be) ... and other similar symbols?

Could Stephon Owens be being inducted into an US uniformed service upon graduation (abd "having permanently closed his restaurant' and not f. khayat somehow ... since he may have dropped out of cmu ... ie "taken a fall, but is doing alright" (as a fascist?) to reiterate What I heard said to my mother at the JS Bach concert at Heinz chapel by  possibly another Longwood resident ?

my mother is getting nose bleeds some at Longwood Senior Center now she just said ... reminding me of my drinking Walmart apple juice in the past 2 weeks and making the association between drinking this and my getting 2-3 nose bleeds, and then stopping drinking this and no longer getting these no bleeds. 

But like with the possibility of a "genetic weapon attack" TEST (way outside the protocols of IRB) against my mother making her quite SICK for 8 days, I also wonder about whether the Longwood new? executive chef could be even putting things psychopathically in her food to cause the nose bleeds (see email to her below from earlier today) ... 

Peter, please, shall I seek to power off my smartphone as well as use the electronic shield bag from Walmart ($12) which computer scientist MIT Yale alum Jim Spohrer suggested in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic when I was living north of Berzerkeley in a "safe house" I wonder ... and re smartphone tracing ... and return to paper maps too sometimes?

Thanks for your nice text message invitation for a walk tomorrow. The weather looks 72F and cloudy - good for a Mother's Day walk I think.

As we say farewell (perhaps rather than 'bye bye,' or even sadly 'buy buy' ... )... and in these last few weeks before I seek to head back to a newly safe Canyon 94516 ... tomorrow too ... 

i was deeply concerned about the 2 dining room people coming out to take our trays on your birthday, - dramatizing even being kinds of goons - and with kathie logan saying, almost like in a macabre film, one is the executive chef. Were those 2 goons a little psychopathic, I wonder (and could one have even prepared for you a POSSIBLE "genetic weapon attack" TEST, which made you very sick for about 8 days)? And is "kathie" logan a mentally unwell psychopath at times too? 

So, perhaps if I come out tomorrow at 12:30 pm, could we eat in your home, and then go for a walk, and then perhaps have a picnic afterward too ... to celebrate Mother's day? 
 
Am aware too ... regarding making the unconscious conscious in MD psychiatry too ... that you and I may be engaging in saying farewell in a healthy way ... out of an approach to even some sort of Sophocles' Oedipus story ... (and that you could also be still entangled in the illegal sex and drug and violence industries, and relating somehow to Dad's first subdural hematoma on a univ pitt-managed Semester at Sea on 12/30/2004 internationally in Belize, and regarding univ pitt's and other colleges in Pgh too engagement with the illegal sex and drug industries and organized crime internationally ). Am not clear how much you think in terms of the Oedipus conflict ... and whether you explore these questions with your NEW? MD psychiatrist even, but I wanted to bring up this further thinking ... regarding George Alexander MD's "Dandelion to the wind" thinking, and my being a dandelion seed heading out on the wind to California ... and potentially to start a family. (Am not seeking to get entangled further in Pittsburgh psychopathy ... and possibly also regarding Christine Michaels and her son Fracka's entanglements ... do they illegally sleep together? ... and even re the jcc ...and in my and WUaS ongoing call for abolishing the illegal sex and drug industries internationally, and their latent networks of violence).

The Desiderata is helpful in these regards, and could we read it even as a response to the Lacanian psychoanalytic psychiatrist George Alexander MD's reading of the Oedipus conflict? Who knows, but some ideas to further think about.

Hi Scott, How about coming out here for brunch/lunch on Sunday and then we can head out to Sarver for a walk in Todd Sanctuary and/ or Buffalo Creek Trail? Not too far away.  We could also take makings for an early, light picnic supper if you like. (Bring whatever you have on hand and I'll do the same.
