Greetings from Cuttyhunk. How are you? I was just reading Elizabeth Warren's 2014 book "A Fighting Chance," co-written with her daughter from her first marriage, Amelia Tyagi (also a Brown University alum like you Peter), and it made me wonder If you, Ma, and I could co-write my upcoming book "Society, Information Technology and the Global University"; and regarding your mentioning your writing group on Saturday too. 

How might we best proceed, and even methodology-wise?

Or, after you read the first ~8 chapters, and we talk about these, could I then tell a narrative to video ... eg about museums and write from this, further in conversation with you ? 

And besides writing from undergraduates (and a general audience interested in the information age) in America, write for a Google Educator Group GEG Ahmedabad, India type audience of mostly educators, most of whom don't speak English as a first language, and into whose languages I could with Google Translate translate "Society, Information Technology and the Global University" into their first languages and particularly tinto translate into Gujarati too ... 

Ma, I'm particularly interested in focusing on the transition from the first 8 chapters on Society and Information Technology to my remaining chapters on the Global University, and regarding WUaS in particular ... and regarding the initial questions I ask in this book ... and the style also of the first part of the book regarding the second part ...

This book first asks:

  • What is its history?

  • What has been its geography?

Good to talk with Bill (Roberts) on the phone yesterday evening .... will be heading there for coffee and a visit this morning around 11, after checking in to the Youth Hostel again for my last of 14 days in the calendar year at this hostel ... As I asked him about staying in his Garden Cottage, tomorrow Friday 2/7/25, he said the water had been turned off and gave me the impression again that it isn't available ... With no credit card, I'm not sure where I'll be able to stay in the SF Bay Area ... As we were talking about this further (asking him if he knows ret. district 7 CA Sen Steve Glazer or re his brother in the DC/Virginia area's contacts in the US federal government), I said to Bill I'm glad you Ed sought to precipitate my moving into a newly safe open Canyon 94516 beginning in March of 2022 ... and Bill said GREAT (and quite positively) ... might I be able. I wonder, to move forward into a newly safe Canyon 94516 tomorrow after checking out of this SF youth hostel I wonder? Scott, I think you are OK with your GEICO renter insurance. Check with GEICO to make sure.

To summarize, there are two types of property: real property and personal property. Real property is land and structures. Personal property is anything movable.

Homeowner insurance combines coverage for both types of property, real and personal. I believe it is homeowner insurance that is under stress in California. My insurance company, which caters to veterans, is sticking around.

I lived in the Garden Cottage here from 1994-2001, above the Romaine Street pedestrian bridge over Market St, riding my bicycle up Market Street with an early little ZAP electric motor, and teaching Yoga. Bill Roberts was my landlord living in the front domicile.

I lived in the Garden Cottage at 3632 Market St. from 1994-2001, behind a whole row of houses, and looking out in 2 directions on gardens. I only rode my bicycle in those years (as a Friendly witness for global warming even) and rode up Market Street with an early, little ZAP electric motor, and while both teaching Yoga, as well as hearing many great San Francisco Symphony Concerts while working there as well. Bill Roberts was my landlord living in front domicile of 3632, and we still occasionally share a meal together.

In their pre-settlement forested state, the Elizabeth Islands (including Penikese and Nashawena) were home to a variety of native tree species. While some species common on nearby islands are currently missing on Penikese, it's possible that, in the absence of further disturbance, it could return to a state forested with red cedar (Juniperus virginiana), as described in a presettlement account from 1602. 
Additional native tree species likely present in the historical forests of the Elizabeth Islands include:
  • Beech (Fagus grandifolia)
  • Oak (Quercus spp.)
  • Black Tupelo (Nyssa sylvatica)
  • Pitch Pine (Pinus rigida)
  • White Pine (Pinus strobus)
  • American Holly (Ilex opaca) 
It is important to note that many of these islands, particularly Penikese, have experienced significant changes in land use over time, including farming and grazing, which led to the loss of much of their original forest cover. Efforts are now being made to manage the vegetation on some islands, such as Penikese, to restore habitats for nesting birds.
