Meditation group at Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto?

Hi Susan, (Jack, Robert),

Greetings, from the SF East Bay near Canyon 94516 (where I lived for about 13 years until moving into a safe house north of Berkeley, and then, I would say, fleeing for my life to the eastern seaboard where I was in asylum for about 5 1/2 years, returning to the  SF East Bay this past December and January 2025). I sang in the UUCPA choir from around January 2017 - March 2021 (having just looked up some past emails in this google email address sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org account).

(As you may recall, my parents met and married in 1957 in the UU church of Cincinnati Ohio, and my grandfather Sandy Brown there I think could be considered a birthright Unitarian; my 90 year old mother is a member of the 1st UU Church of Pittsburgh too ... did some of you go to college at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in the 1970s, did I read? )

I'm writing to inquire if I could possibly please join this Saturday's meditation group online out of the UUCPA. I noticed online on the UUCPA website - https://www.uucpa.org/ - that you send out a link for this beforehand. Am exploring the possibility of joining the choir again as well.

Thanks so much, best wishes, Yogically, Friendly regards,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Sorry I mislaid this until now, when it's too late to go to today's meditation session.  Zoom information is at the end of the email.   If you like, I can add you to our email list.  It's used for sending out the week's reading, and other concerns as they come up.

Best wishes,
Susan Owicki

Hi Susan, (Jack, Robert, Janie/Ma, Bruce, all),

Thanks for your email regarding the UU Meditation group online on Saturdays. And greetings from the SF East Bay.

Am exploring the idea Of coming to the UU PA service tomorrow morning ... and in exploring further the possibility of singing in the choir. Will you be there?

What are the Campus Vision Groundbreaking - https://www.uucpa.org/ - and the library books' picture Resonant Reading announcements, and ðŸ¥° images, about?

Best wishes, musically, thanks so much, Yogically, Friendly regards,

Hi Robert, Susan, Jack, Janie/Ma, Bruce, all,

Appreciating much the music and what Peter shared from the UU pulpit ... Thank you! And nice to see some familiar choir faces too. And thanks to Veronica for playing in piano keys that are great for singing in for this (baritone / bass learner).

Re happiness and even studying enjoyment in online education (as founder and head of MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch in a #GrowWithGoogleWUaS program) in all 200 countries and potentially among speakers of all 7159 known living languages please share this INCREDIBLE #ToolifyAIWUaS article by Peter Norvig

with Peter Farriday, which article I mentioned to him.

And here's MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch's
Loving_Bliss_(eliciting_this_neurophysiology) wiki subject or school In English for people to people wiki teach and wiki learn in -

... without any MIT OCW courses, I think, which courses will be eventually for credit toward free online from home university WUaS degrees in all 200 countries and in their main languages +.

Might it be possible please to join the UUCPA choir practice, this Thursday even? I think I'm going to hold off on joining the UUCPA meditation group online, since I'm seeking to develop further an online free Yoga meditation and restorative asana / movement class around this time on Saturdays as well.

And might we Explore in tiny ways beginning the online WUaS Music School together out of UUCPA which I recall talking about in 2017 -2019 in the choir - and possibly for #RealRealTime choral music making and singing in a #RealisticVirtualEarthForMusicMaking with #Hashtags on #TwitterX & #LinkedIn  (and see Peter Norvig's incredible article above mentioning a realistic virtual Earth for the first time that I know of other than by WUaS).

Best UU regards, thanks, Appreciatively, Yogically, Kindly,
Scott

My notes / social media I found -

About Peter -

Hi Robert, Susan, Jack, Janie/Ma, Bruce, all,

Susan, did we sit next to each other this morning, and talk briefly among the books in front too afterward , and might you even be going by the pseudonym on 'your' name tag,  Glenda Jones, I wonder? I came over to sit by 'Glenda Jones' in the beginning because she somehow looked familiar. Glenda said afterward she was suffering from short term memory ðŸ’• loss ... re remembering only some books she had put in the car she said. Were you singing in the UUCPA choir 5-8 years ago, Susan? Was Glenda?

Nice to see you again Susan if we did sit together during the UU service.

World Univ & Sch has a significant research focus on aging reversal and extreme longevity genetic drug therapies, FDA approved (first in 2050? per Harvard and MIT professor of generics'  George Church ... and potentially for WUaS in an out of the box realistic virtual earth #forGenetics #ForAgingReversal #ForExtremeLongevity genetic drug therapies and even an #AgingReversalMachine - and think Google Street View with time slider, Gmaps, TensorFlowAI and at the #GCellView & #GMoleculeView levels + and even with little pegman becoming each of our #AvatarAgentElectronicHealthRecords  ... and coming into conversation with George Church's heralding of these

Does anyone know of any open courseware courses e.g. from Stanford (e.g. Wu Tsai institute for performance sports or ?) to add to the https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Aging_Reversal_Genetics wiki subject In English but planned in all ~200 Countries's #WUaSUnivs and In their main languages?

Best wishes,
Scott

Well, Scott, I believe that Glenda Jones and I are distinctly different people.  She is a very fine person, and I hope you enjoyed your chat!

Dear Susan, Robert, Jack, Janie/Ma, Bruce, Ed, Pin, Annie (cousin in NE Oregon), Alden. (1st cousin once removed in Burlingame), all,

Glenda and I had a very, very brief chat near the books, and she seems great, and I'll potentially be able to ask her if she was singing in the UUCPA choir in 2017-2019 the next time I see her. And thanks for letting me know. By the way, how does the Unitarian Universalist Church of PA 'navigate' for example issues of short term memory loss, or other related or different aging developments, in this Unitarian congregation, (and until aging reversal and extreme longevity genetic drug therapies, FDA approved, possibly come along ... by 2050 per Harvard And MIT professor of genetics' George Church?)?

And how might even Yoga asana and 8 limb yoga, as well as language use help?

Best wishes, Yogically, UU regards,
Scott

Dear Bruce (Olstad), Robert, Susan, Jack, Janie/Ma, Ed, Pin, Annie (cousin in NE Oregon), Alden. (1st cousin once removed in Burlingame), all,

Greetings! Nice to see you Robert on Sunday, and to talk with you. Might I possibly please come to sing in the UU choir practice this Thursday, and in preparation for singing in the UUCPA Xmas celebration on December 6 at 4pm? And if 'the way opens' further, might I also potentially invite friend Donna Leet MD to sing in the UUCPA choir as well?

Susan, were you singing in the UU choir from Jan 2017 to mid 2019, by any chance? I have a recollection that you Jack may have been singing bass or similar in that time, but am not 100% sure.

In what ways can singing in an UU choir be construed as meditation?

Scott

PS
I've blogged about some of this email thread here in the Sunday 11/16/25 blog post beginning "Lunaria ... "

https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2025/11/lunaria.html (in daily blog)

Dear Bruce (Olstad), Robert, Peter, Susan, Jack, Janie/Ma, Ed, Pin, Annie (cousin in NE Oregon), Alden. (my mother's 1st cousin in Burlingame), all,

Greetings, and as a further followup

Am wondering how you might apply these for singing (eg one's bodymind as an instrument???)

http://scottmacleod.com/GuidelinesPracticingMusicalInstrument.htm where these were written for practicing a musical instrument, possibly not one's body or regarding singing.

speaking of happiness, here are some related ideas regarding practicing eliciting loving bliss neurophysiology (out of the box thinking) -

What do you think? And could you forward this to Peter Farriday regarding what he talked about on Sunday please?

How to construe practicing as a meditation, is something I explored this morning, and in playing Piobareachd, a Scottish bagpipe classical music, on my Scottish small pipes ?

I've been focusing on these for a long time, and see too -

How to elicit loving bliss happiness neurophysiology as if turning on and off a  switch- and with singing I wonder? Thoughts?

I'm thinking my grandfather Sandy Brown (a birthright Unitarian I think) probably sang in the Unitarian choir in Cincinnati Ohio for decades even, but I never heard about this. Ma/Janie - did Grandpa sing in that UU choir (and might he even have sung in this UU choir at your wedding with Dad - GKM MD - in that church possibly:)?

Friendly UU regards, best wishes, Happy singing,
Scott

PS

Hi Ma, Ed, Pin, how are you this Tuesday? Decided to focus on freedom today in playing Scottish Small Pipes in the back of this great Toyota Sienna Woodland at an overlook in the East Bay Regional Parks ... In taking a slightly more conscious approach than usual to playing this morning (with parallels to Yoga meditation first thing upon rising), it turns out I newly ended up  first  listening while reading the sheet music (a first in a long time), and to help remember the piece further very accurately, to this great playing of the Piobaireachd "The Desperate Battle" - https://open.spotify.com/track/6pV4QF2rPFCsCWHCIrsVRt - ("...of the Birds," where I posit or hypothesize there may have been competition for this name of a Piobaireachd piece 'back in the day' (1300s - 1700s :) since there's another tune titled "The Desperate Battle of the Birds" ... and I further hypothesize that the birds may be Capercaillies ) ... Freedom in the sense of further playing well this pretty Piobareachd to my ear from memory too ... where my initial exploration of freedom in mind was playing this piece lyrically and thus in freeing ways, with senses of freedom in playing it ... It was a good and interesting 'practicing' of "The Desperate Battle" ... Exploring singing in the UU choir of Palo Alto beginning even this Thursday evening for further music making (which I sang in on Thursday evenings back in 2017 -~2019, when I was over at Stanford University a lot regarding World Univ & Sch WUaS, - and sang in Thursday evening practices only for about a year and a half- 2 years, while remaining on the UUCPA email list through 2021)... How might I best invite Donna to sing in this choir possibly, I wonder? Thoughts, questions, suggestions? Fond regards, warmly, Scott (Asked Gemini AI - "When was "The Desperate Battle" Piobaireachd classical Scottish bagpiping tune (e.g. in Book 7 of "The Piobaireachd Society"'s collection of sheet music) composed and where (rather than the "The Desperate Battle of the Birds")?

https://gemini.google.com/share/3152206dc9e5 " ... with another edifying response ...:)

to me, Susan, Robert, Bruce, Scott

Hello Scott, (and just Bruce and Susan),

I would love to have you rejoin the Choir -- we could certainly use another bass, but the last 2.5 weeks before our concert is a difficult time, especially since it is more like 1.5 weeks as we do not practice over Thanksgiving weekend!

We do have some practice music, and there are online copies of the music you could look at, plus we have 4 practices, Monday to Thursday, 7-9 pm the week of Dec. 1 to get ready.  But even that seems like not enough time to learn the music and be ready to perform it so soon.  This is Bruce' call, but I think it would be better to come, enjoy the concert on Dec. 6, and join the choir starting Dec. 11.

Hi Robert, and just Bruce and Susan,

Would love to begin singing in the Unitarian UUCPA choir again on Th 12/11/25 ... and re much joyous Xmas music too (possibly) ...

Thanks so much ...
