Wikipedia & MIT Open Learning's New Strategic Collaboration - Tue Oct 6, 2026

Greetings from Berkeley, and free World University and School building on CC-4 licensed MIT OCW in 7 languages http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - Scott MacLeod (&  ~https://x.com/WorldUnivAndSch/)

@ScottMacLeodWorldUniversity
There are 348 languages in Wikipedia and Wikidata, and World Univ & Sch is developing in all 7159 languages - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages as people-to-people #WikiSchools

How best could free @WorldUnivAndSch develop with https://opencw.aprende.org/courses/translated-courses/traditional-chinese/ in China https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/China in Chinese?

@ScottMacLeodWorldUniversity
Thanks to MIT OCW in 7 languages!

Hi Yvonne, Curt, All,

Just shared the following with you and my mother and Pin/Sid Mazumdar HHS, a Harvard alum too, and wonder what you think?

"Hi Ma & Pin, nice to talk, Ma ...  I attended this MIT Open Learning and Wikipedia Collaboration talk on Tuesday, which I blogged about here on Tue 10/6/26 - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2026/10/tibetan-plateau.html?m=0 - with much relevance for WUaS, like Wikipedia in 348 languages with MiT OCW in 7 languages, too ... Peter (last name regarding Pittsburgh department stores' name?) mentioned '200 languages' & MIT Open Learning (& with MIT OCW too?), I think, employing 192 people ... I'm exploring donating 200 dollars, $1 for each person, with $8 unrestricted  ... and inquiring if Curt and OCW could build out major World Universities and Schools' MIT open courseware for all 200 countries, for quite a few of the free-to-students' online degrees WUaS seeks to offer, and even such that an organization such as abstract-technology.de (with whom WUaS has been communicating) could add such MIT OCW to the Open edX Europe platform (re GDPR law for collecting data about students, etc too), and so that then WUaS could explore accrediting in Germany ... or possibly, in a new development, such that somehow an accreditation agency in the US with the US federal government even could accredit WUaS newly on the Open edX platform (started by MIT and Harvard too) in the US   ... And, after paying myself $1 first, could free World University and School then say WUaS is now employing 193 people too ?   Fond regards, Scott"

After paying myself $1 first, could WUaS then even say we're now employing 193 people e.g. with MIT Open Learning (but not mention this) too ?

Thoughts?

Thanks for the interesting conversation.

Best regards,
Scott
