While I've emailed Professor Abbas Milani & Stanford Iranian Studies about this before a number of times, I wonder too how to interoperate Iran World Univ & Sch WUaS with your, Abbas (Milani's), project to preserve and develop Iran's history and via historical resources and documents etc - and in a Realistic Virtual Earth for History (which #TwitterX, #LinkedIn too at times https://x.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarthForHistory?src=hashtag_click).

Witness to Iran’s Paradigm Shift: From Flight PS752 to Woman, Life, Freedom and Beyond

In this lecture, Babak Payami argues that the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising was not simply another episode in Iran’s long struggle for freedom. It marked the collapse of a political dialogue with power sustained for decades by repression, ideological rivalry, and the recurring illusion of reform. A generation born after Ayatollah Khomeini’s death has moved beyond seeking concessions within the Islamic Republic’s framework. Its struggle is increasingly directed at the framework itself, replacing inherited political and partisan binaries with a pluralistic language of democratic values, gender equality, human dignity, and justice.
The power of the IRGC, ethnic and sectarian tensions, foreign interference, fragile opposition institutions, and the persistence of legacy political discourse remain serious obstacles. Yet the depth of the rupture should not be underestimated. A rising generation is attempting to redefine Iranian identity through unity in diversity rather than religious conformity, ideological allegiance, or partisan inheritance. The central question, Payami argues, is whether this emerging political imagination can resist co-optation, build alliances across social divisions, and translate its demands for justice, human rights, and democratic values into durable grassroots institutions capable of shaping whatever follows the present order.
Babak Payami is an Iranian-Canadian filmmaker, writer, producer, and educator whose work examines power, justice, displacement, and democratic culture. His film “Secret Ballot” received the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice International Film Festival. His documentary “752 Is Not a Number,” following Hamed Esmaeilion’s pursuit of justice after the downing of Flight PS752, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022. Payami has taught and mentored filmmakers internationally. Across cinema, essays, and public advocacy, his work connects artistic practice with questions of human rights, political responsibility, and collective memory.
