In seeking to develop an interactive realistic virtual Harbin Springs (visit gate @HarbinBook) for actual-virtual STEM ethnographic research, with developing a realistic virtual earth / universe, it would be great to build out from UNESCO World Heritage Sites too - in STREETVIEW?

What WUaS would like to add to this process is the possibility for many researchers to add their own research, photos, videos, archival materials, computer modeling, planning & architecture, etc. - something I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy ~

Hi Cedric, (and Amir),

Nice to talk with you yesterday evening at the UC Berkeley TSWG.

You might find this upcoming MIT Media Lab "Envisioning a New Space Age ... " online talk interesting ... https://twitter.com/medialab/status/970048737602080768 ... which I just re-tweeted here ... https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch.

In waiting to hear back about a MIT Media Lab faculty teaching position for myself beginning this autumn (re both World University and School, as well as concerning a realistic virtual earth/universe), and in my seeking to develop an interactive realistic virtual Harbin Hot Springs for actual-virtual STEM ethnographic research, and in conjunction with developing a realistic virtual earth / universe, it would be great to build out from UNESCO World Heritage Sites too in these regards, such as yours, as well (in something like Google Hangouts/Streetview/Maps/Earth/Brain with time slider, and group build-able, in all 7,097 living languages) as an already existing editable platform (with TensorFlow and GoogleTranslate etc). How best to do this?

What I'd like to add to this process is the possibility for many many researchers to add their own research and thinking, photos and videos, archival materials and computer modeling (and robotics even) etc. - something I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy ... https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy. This could be a good approach to planning and architecture too. (I'm including Amir Gohar in this email too, since he might know of an UNESCO World Heritage Site or Oasis in Egypt, which he'd like to model with drone video mapping or similar).

Drone mapping would be a first great starting place - and just doing this building on what you've already done in China - but I think Google would do a much better job, and in terms of the Harbin experience too, than I could with Harbin Hot Springs.

Visit the Harbin Gate here in Street View ~ http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg (and "walk" 4 miles down the road to "amble" around the streets of Middletown in 2012 I think, for example) ~ and I've added one of the photos of the Harbin Gate House from 2001, which you can find here. I've also seen video added to the side bar in Google Street View.

This is the Harbin gate photo I added a few years ago from 2001, as an example of wiki-add-ability to an already existing platform - Street View/Maps/Earth/Brain etc.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Harbin+Hot+Springs/@38.790751,-122.659978,3a,113.6y,90t/data=!3m8!1e2!3m6!1sAF1QipOR33JEA3qzAchuAOEFPss-U_w6cXPc-OsiNgSE!2e10!3e12!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipOR33JEA3qzAchuAOEFPss-U_w6cXPc-OsiNgSE%3Dw203-h153-k-no!7i576!8i436!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xde57c3ab0ecaa2c9!8m2!3d38.7860806!4d-122.6518315

In what ways might we explore some of these ideas further together?

Best regards, Scott
