Allegheny Islands' wilderness area in NW Pennsylvania, the Tiny 1 of 2 wilderness areas in PA

Ma,

How are you? How was the PSO symphony concert last night?

Am wondering about next steps in heading west to get there around 9/1/23 but am a bit in limbo in MANY regards about this - as a whistle blower and in calling for abolition, and regarding what's developing with federal and state law working effectively together, for example.

D.L. MD is attractive. It could be fun to explore the Pacific Crest Trail at the Sonora Pass + together and parts and hot springs EAST of the Sierras together from Bridgeport near Travertine AND Buckeye Hot Springs to Olancha south of the town of Independence near the southern Sierras - in an upcoming Toyota ProAce Electric camping van with shower!

May head to the Allegheny Islands' wilderness area in NW Pennsylvania, the Tiny 1 of 2 wilderness areas in PA I haven't been to yet (links below).

Love, Scott

Allegheny islands wilderness

Buckaloons Recreation Area and Tionesta, Pennsylvania.

Looks like I could get a kayak or similar tomorrow possibly -

Accessible only by boat, the islands are open to paddlers looking for a place to camp, explore, have lunch, or just stretch and look around.

The islands are grass covered and shaded by sycamore, silver maple, shagbark hickory, willow and green ash trees. There are no developed trails or other facilities on the islands. Though trail-less, the islands are easy to explore on foot in the springtime. But as the year goes on, the brush gets denser and exploration gets more challenging.

No Reservations Necessary

There are no regulations regarding the use of the islands and no reservations are needed. The only important rule is to “Leave No Trace,” which is essential in maintaining the environment of the islands and the quality of this important river system.

The seven islands are Crull’s Island, the largest at 96 acres as well as Thompson’s and Baker, both 67 acres, Courson, 62 acres, King, 36 acres, R. Thompson’s, 30 acres, and No-Name, 10 acres.

Texting ...

Hi Ma, on the way to Allegheny Islands Wilderness ... Put on new red suspenders, good for hiking pants that can unzip to become shorts  ... Put a sleeping board in the car ... May camp out in the car on Thermarest backpacking inflatable sleeping pad tonight ... Maybe renting a kayak in the morning to visit all 7 islands in the middle of the Allegheny river  ... Nice to be underway but there haven't been any parks along rt 28 so far ... an aspect of Pennsylvania culture I think ... A haiku poem about each island, from afar, and then on each island? :) Possibly ❤️Love, Scott (http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2023/06/indian-paintbrush-wy-wyoming-state.html?m=0 with more about Allegheny Islands Wilderness AND asking what George Church means by immortality in some tweets today  ... And Regarding  'Immortality? What does @GeoChurch mean https://youtu.be/mztOFAQf8uY (~8 mins) re #GoogleStreetView #GoogleCellView #GoogleMoleculeView w #TimeSlider re

Hi Ma, Adventuring today to the Allegheny Islands Wilderness area in NW PA - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2023/06/indian-paintbrush-wy-wyoming-state.html?m=0 - with more to come. Made it to the Buckaloons Forest Service Scientific Laboratories near the fee area Buckaloons Recreation Area.    But couldn't see how to get wilderness area islands. Drove back to the east side of the Allegheny river and spotted Crull's island through the trees and stopped in a pullover ... No way through the underbrush   Then someone on a 3 wheeled motorcycle with long hair stopped ... I asked him how to get   there ... He said it's sometimes possible to wade there from Buckaloons Recreation  area ... Helpful information ... with hiking poles perhaps too ...  and he said it's a nice canoe trip from there 12-13 miles to Tidioute town ... 😀 Cheers, Scott 😀

Hi Ma, drove back to the west side of the Allegheny river looking for access to it, found the southern tip of Crull's island among a community of houses along the river, drove back north to the Anders Run Natural Area in the Cornplanter State Forest, at 983 Dunns Eddy Road,  started walking with AllTrails ... Opened a Topo Map in AllTrails ... Almost bushwhacked down to the river ... But the land  became very steep  ... Saw a possible flat road to walk to the river adjacent to this state forest ...  Exploring further ... Trying to document a natural way to get to the river in order to get to the Allegheny Islands Wilderness ... All here eventually - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2023/06/indian-paintbrush-wy-wyoming-state.html?m=0 Love, Scott ❤️

Ma, if you wanted to adventure here to see the Allegheny Islands Wilderness,  for a long day trip with a friend, head for 1251 Dunns Eddy Road Brokenstraw Township PA 16371 (the remainder of a house is here) ... and you could consider rolling in your lightweight kayak even to get there ... Foot traffic welcome from this location :) ... when you're 150 and adventuring forth ... (Will add this to http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2023/06/indian-paintbrush-wy-wyoming-state.html?m=0 for reference) love, Scott

Ma, further, from the Allegheny Islands Wilderness from the banks of the Allegheny river, drove  ~ 25 miles south back into town of Tionesta and asked a PA state trooper in front of the closed Visitors Center about ways to rent a canoe. He said

Outback Adventures canoe rentals (814) 755-3658 just across the river rents them. Drove to

247 Outback Adventures Rd, Tionesta, PA 16353

but they were closed. Called around 8 pm and left message asking if they would drive 25 miles north to a put in spot with a canoe  ... Doubt I'll hear back but it would be great to explore all 7 Islands tomorrow before heading back :)

Here may be how to get to near Crull's Island in the Allegheny Islands Wilderness near the Buckaloons' Recreation area about 25 miles north of Tionesta, PA -

(and I just noticed that the Allegheny Islands' Wilderness lies between the Route 62 bridge over the Allegheny river, just north of Crull's Island, as far south 12-13 miles at the Tidioute bridge over the Allegheny river, just south of Courson Island, the southern-most island in the Allegheny Islands' Wilderness, which stretch of the Allegheny seems like it would a great canoe trip!:)
