Personal life[edit]

McCutchen was known for his long dreadlocks,[3][90] which spawned popularity days at PNC Park. Before the 2014 MLB season, he told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "It's good to have an image. I have the hair, but eventually I'm gonna cut it".[37] On March 25, 2015, McCutchen cut his dreadlocks, which were sold through MLB's website via auction, with all proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities.[91] McCutchen teased his fans on social media for a big "secret" before unveiling his new haircut.[92]

McCutchen proposed to his longtime girlfriend Maria Hanslovan on the December 11, 2013, episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.[93] On November 27, 2017, McCutchen and his wife announced the birth of their first child, a son.[94] On December 24, 2019, McCutchen and his wife announced the birth of their second son, and on October 25, 2021, it was announced on Instagram that Maria gave birth to their first daughter. They reside in Pittsburgh.[95]

McCutchen, the son of a minister, is a Christian.[96]

In May 2021, McCutchen provided voice acting for an episode of the Disney Junior television show Puppy Dog Pals. He voiced "a cool, card-playing dog" who helps the main characters find an autographed baseball card of their favorite player, voiced by Mookie Betts.[97]

So nice to see you Ma and thanks for the Barking Slopes' Allegheny Land Trust walk idea near your home, and along the river ... You might enjoy teaching the Longwood cooking staff over the next week with some focus, and then over the next 5 years sporadically ... "Janie MacLeod's Culinary Academy" out of the Longwood dining room and in email etc :)) ... Thanks too for the nice yummy food and tea and thermos and quart glass canning jar for tea too ... Started training at 5p. 86F in my abode, but rain may cool things down pretty quickly hopefully :) I was a bit tired from car camping yesterday ... bagpiping and to bed pretty soon! So, Ma, I've had an egg (76 calories), and about 2 cups of skim milk (90 calories x 2 = 180 calories), and a mandarin orange (47 calories) = 303 calories, and I'm aiming to keep my calorie intake down to about 1200 per day on average to lose weight (where a 40 year old 6' tall man burns about 1750 calories per day), over the next few weeks ... and aiming to get to be about 180 pounds from possibly 200 or 210 (time to get my scale out of storage) ... just Tweeted including Ewan Birney, and HMS's George Church (thanks to a Pittsburgh Pirate's Tweet from Lillian Thomas:) -

Hi from the 1st UU church of Pgh outdoor's picnic tables Ma but rain looks imminent so won't sit to study with a wi-fi hotspot to my laptop. ...  Found lots of new info about the Tomb of Francis II, and Andrew Carnegie procured it ... The woman Abby whom I asked some questions turned a little red when I asked who the Celtic art historians are  at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pgh PA ... Hoping African Americans will become the next heads of these museums AND CMU Carnegie Mellon University itself :) they're changing the guard at Buckingham Palace  😀 :)


Thank you for the workman's thermos, and the quart canning jar  .... Thanks too for the little nut-seed cakes ('Aussie Bites'), as an experiment ... 30 seconds in the microwave however burned the inside of one FYI ... Also sort of interesting, and kind of ethnographic, in Tionesta, I was looking for some sparkling water or club soda or something similar to dilute juice (for lessening calorie consumption) ... The central grocery store suggested the Dollar General (which I had never ever been in ... but was a grocery store), found some $1/quart club soda and when checking out the ~45 yo man in front was getting a 'birthday' card, and then with packs of Marlboro cigarettes ... and he gave his PA driver's license which # the clerk typed into the cash register  - PA is controlled and controlling with such addictive substances and re 'PA package stores for alcohol' too compared with CA ... and potentially regarding World Univ & Sch (WUaS) calling for abolition for all 7.9 billion people on planet, abolishing the wrongful buying and selling of people in various industries ... and regarding PA law enforcement strategies ... where the illegal entries here at 210 East End Avenue Pgh PA 15221 involved Pgh police breaking the law with corrupt? upmc univ pitt med ctr's "resolve irresolvable crisis" groups, twice, as a criminal infraction against or by the police ... which I wrote about numerous times ... All of which - abolition, writing about police breaking the law, wrong-doing, etc. - potentially protects people!  Love, Scott
