Regarding development questions for Fettes College in all of the above, I personally am still impoverished, and in getting MIT OCW-centric wiki WUaS for a song (2 Scottish Small Pipes' albums of tunes, in 2020 and 2022?), but I think there are numerous further opportunities for development in the above, beyond what I've already sketched out. And while the above is a complex web of entrepreneurial opportunities too for Fettes, and Scotland as well ... Dear Shady Side Community, 

Building on Shady Side’s proud history of compelling architectural design and effective campus planning, we are excited to share with you later today the vision for the next phase of development for our learning spaces. 

Our campus is a living resource, and every part of it—every stairwell, lobby, and garden—holds the potential to educate and instill a sense of belonging, deepening all of our experiences, memories, and emotional connections to Shady Side. 

With such student experience top of mind, we seek to even more fully realize our mission through the Academy's spaces and have prioritized the following principles in our design: 

  • Relationship Building & Student Engagement
  • Connected Community
  • Interdisciplinary, Real-World Learning 

As we have designed and built, we have been mindful of community health and safety and, as a 140-year-old school with an aging physical plant, those concepts that set us up for the most sustainable future possible. The plan includes energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly designs, including the smart, adaptive repurposing of underutilized campus spaces. 

As a credit to the pioneers who so thoughtfully designed SSA’s Senior School in the early 1920s, our campus has continued to adapt well to new circumstances, one of the primary markers of its greatness. Over the past century, Shady Side has continued to preserve the campuses’ most cherished characteristics, while also responding to growth, change, and renewal. 

We are fortunate to enjoy such a beautiful, inspiring campus, one that has been developed as a result of the talents and generosity of so many. I trust the original architects and visionaries of SSA would be proud we remain a school on the move—and that we are building upon their brilliant designs to help both the institution and our current students face the challenges of today.

 As a reminder, to be eligible to apply for MSCHE accreditation, an institution must be able to demonstrate that it meets the following Pre-Applicant Minimum Requirements:


1.      The institution must be legally authorized or licensed, from an appropriate governmental organization or agency to operate as a postsecondary educational institution and must award postsecondary degrees or hold proper legal exemption in accordance with Requirement of Affiliation No.1 and federal regulation 34 CFR §602.28(a).

2.      The institution must be in good standing with no current non-compliance, adverse or the equivalent type of action with the state or other accreditors in accordance with federal regulation 34 CFR §602.28(b).

3.      The institution must be operational, with students actively enrolled in its degree programs.

4.      The institution must have a mission statement and related goals that define its purposes within the context of higher education.

5.      The institution must have a governance and administration structure that allows it to have education as its primary purpose and operate as an academic institution with appropriate autonomy.

6.      The institution must have documented financial resources, funding base, and plans for financial development, including those from any related entities (including without limitation systems, religious sponsorship, and corporate ownership) adequate to support its educational purposes and programs and to ensure financial stability.

7.      The institution must review the Certifications and Disclosures Statement and certify that the information provided throughout the application process is accurate, honest, and truthful.


If, following a review by the Commission staff and peer evaluators, the institution is determined by the Commission to satisfactorily meet the Pre-Applicant Minimum Requirements, it will be allowed to submit an application for Candidate for Accreditation Status.

Moving forward, please direct all of your communications regarding obtaining accreditation to me. Ms. Bonner and I are the only MSCHE staff who work with applicant institutions. Copying other staff members can be confusing and counterproductive. We will be happy to answer any questions you have and assist you with our process.

Two of my personal Chase banking accounts have been closed arbitrarily in the past month, one a decades' long reliable credit card, and recently on Friday evening a fairly new personal Chase bank account with a sizable amount of money in it ... and as WUaS calls for abolition in all 200 countries, and for all 7.9 billion people on the planet, each a Wikidata PIN # - 


Not sure what's up with possibly 2 Chase accounts being closed ... credit card, and newly I think 1 out of 2 bank accounts (and maybe there's a paper check coming in the mail re this bank accounts new 0 balance per a Chase email on Friday evening) ... or maybe Chase CEO Jamie Dimon will begin to weigh in on some of these Chase (with trader joe's information technology) crazinesses (US Senator and Harvard Law Professor Elizabeth Warren too? to whom I've reached out about this) ... and perhaps both of these accounts will be reinstated AND WITH LOANS FOR THE flagship physical-digital WUaS Bookstore on Walnut st Pgh PA ...
