Hi Ma,

Thanks for your email! Glad regarding your mentioning the coyote I saw and texted you about that you're getting and reading my texts and my emails +! Re a Unitarian Universalist vision for social justice WITH the law (which I think I share with you), am wondering how the idea of AGENCY (per my email to you and David) plays a role here too.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning as well in Zoom online in 'virtual Cuttyhunk' - probably in the Cuttyhunk Town Hall and with some familiar faces! It will be interesting to see what we learn about coronavirus pandemic safety on Cuttyhunk this summer! (I've been emailing Ed a bit further about whether and how Canyon 94516 could be a dangerous situation, and I think he understands; I wonder what roles A) law, B) medicine and C) psychiatry might be playing newly here even).

Brainstorming idea:
It would be fascinating if we could add so many Zoom video 'backgrounds' from the period over the coronavirus pandemic into a single interactive realistic virtual earth - kind of a new idea too (and am thinking of piping them all into Google Street View)!

Taylor will be traveling this evening, so no piping lesson, but we'll resume next week, he wrote too (I think we're at around his 16th lesson). Am playing my Scottish small pipes daily before heading to bed as well ... and toward my upcoming "Honey in the Bag" SSP album!

If we do find out in the BoS meeting that Cuttyhunk is a safe place to visit tomorrow, I'd like to keep open the possibility of heading there this year even nevertheless. (I might even meet a life partner on the journey there ... and tempus fugit! )

Just connected with my former housemaster George Preston and friends, Andrew Lownie and Yuen Lok Mok, from my year at Fettes College earlier and regarding, too, a great video from its current Fettes head of school Helen Harrison with many cultural insights into the pastoral care aspect of a Scottish education as well as Fettes academic focus - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/olrogs-gull-pastoral-care-and-academic.html (but unfortunately this video is private).

And after my good meeting with CEO Yvain at MOOCit France as a service provider yesterday for migrating CC-4 MIT OCW into WUaS Open edX, I hope my big educational project will make possible free-to-students' online best STEM CC-4 OCW-centric Bachelor degrees to Fettesian students as early as September 1, 2020.  Am finding the Scottish identity themes playing out here further - in my studying there for 2 separate years, playing the bagpipes (formerly the highland pipes and now the Scottish small pipes), in family NAMES - and am exploring it also in this family history here - http://scottmacleod.com/ScottMacLeodFamilyHistory.htm - which is growing. I want to ask you more about the names, like Monroe in your grandfather's name, Oscar Monroe Gilbert MD, and am curious too about James A Brown, Grandpa's grandfather, and re Scotland too. What do you recall of James A Brown if anything? :)

L, Scott

Dear Head Harrison Andrew, Yuen Lok, George,

Inspiring, ~ Head Harrison! Made the corners of my mouth 'un-droop.' (I heard echoes of John Cleese even, a bit too :).

I had asked on June 11, 2020 at the invitation of this Fettes Community to ask a question:

Hi Fettesians,

Greetings from the SF Bay Area. Am glad to announce that World University and School is seeking its 2nd undergraduate class for free-to-students' online Bachelor's degrees this autumn 2020 as WUaS proceeds with licensing and accreditation. World University & School is like Wikipedia in ~300 languages, with the best STEM CC-4 OpenCourseWare (OCW) in its current 4 languages - https://youtu.be/vZcp2zqkI9w & just updated both WINGS http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ & http://worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html @WUaSPress info@ worlduniversityandschool.org ~
(https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1271111031905869824?s=20). WUaS is also WIKI for open teaching and learning - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Subjects.

With best regards,

I found much socio-cultural insight into Edinburgh and Scotland in Head Helen Harrison's video, and appreciated, too, the Fettes' pastoral & academic excellence 'visions,' but I noticed she didn't answer my question. (Just yesterday, I had a 45 minutes' talk with Yvain Demollière, CEO of MOOCit France in Paris, and it looks like they're going to become the service provider for World Univ & Sch to put CC-4 MIT OCW onto the Open edX platform for World University and School, I'm very glad to write! And M. Rifai in Sri Lanka just became the first chancellor of WUaS - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/07/green-pheasant-congratulations-rifai.html - out of about 200 planned chancellors, for each countries' major online University and in all of these nation states' official or main languages, and esp. for free-to-students' online Bachelor, Ph.D., Law, MD and IB high school degrees!) Please give my regards to Head Helen Harrison! How are you all?

Friendly regards, Scott

Gordon MacLeod K 78

Are you an active reader of the Straits' Times, Yuen Lok, or anyone - https://www.straitstimes.com/global ? And would you recommend it? Am finding Google Translate machine translation very helpful for reading newspapers in many languages from around the world. What other newspapers might you recommend, Yuen Lok, from your situated-ness in Malaysia? Best regards, Scotty

Here's the question I asked, also from June 11, 2020:

Dear Helen, To what degree do you as Head of Fettes engage in university admissions' questions for Fettes' students outside of Scotland, England and the British Isles? I ask in the context of developing best STEM CC-4 OpenCourseWare-centric World University & School for free-to-students' online university degrees, where students would be studying from homes, post-Fettes. This autumn World Univ & Sch hopes to offer online edX (founded by Harvard & MIT) courses as WUaS proceeds with licensing and accreditation from California (potentially CA's BPPE and WASC). In what ways do you think Fettes students could be interested in free-to-students' online degrees, studying from home? Thank you. Sincerely, Scott GK MacLeod K'78 (worlduniversityandschool.org and scottmacleod.com - https://fettescommunity.org/user/778519💻

Interesting socio-cultural insights into Fettes, Edinburgh, Scotland, and even 'ethnography of texts and objects' here - "Interview with Ralph Hughes author of the Fettes book, Fettes Our Place" https://vimeo.com/432330657 (but dated 3 July 2020) - too, and posted close to Head of Fettes (indeed!) Helen Harrison's video - https://vimeo.com/435058839 (dated 9 July 2020), whose language (and am interested in language anthropologically) is also so interesting, leadership-wise even.

Friendly regards, Scott
