Hi Scott,

Thank you for your interest.

You need to create an account and when it asks if you are in IL chose Non-IL. Also, chose OTHER if you are not an educator or in one of the IL districts.

Let me know if that doesn't work.

Thanks again,
Alex

There's nothing in "District" to pick ... a check mark shows up when I click on its down arrow on the side, but the  "District" field doesn't work.  So at this point, I can't register.

Suggestions?

Hi Scott, I'm adding Brian as I see what you mean. Nothing comes up for district when you chose Non-IL, and you get stuck.

Brian, can you help us?

In the meantime, Scott, feel free to choose IL, Cook County. That’s my area. I'll make a note that you are from another state.

Sorry for the trouble, Scott.

Hi Brian,

Looks like this 6/4 meeting @ 2PM CDT requires an Illinois county sign-in - https://reg.abcsignup.com/s_reg/reg_registration_maintenance.aspx?na=1 - which I don't have. Would bring my LEGO bricks re #RealisticVirtualEarthForLego ! Workarounds? Other ways to join this event? Thanks!

I found under "County" Non-Illinois, but then under "District" the 'other' option isn't available. Suggestions?

There's nothing in "District" to pick ... a check mark shows up when I click on its down arrow on the side, but the  "District" field doesn't work.  So at this point, I can't register.

Alexandra, there are a bunch of required fields in today's registration form, so if I were to try an Illinois county, it would conflict with the CA address.

Thanks, Scott

Wonderful and thank you, Leanna and All,

I learned some new Lego language.

A realistic virtual earth for Lego ... from Lego Duplo bricks - and the creative computing projects you shared - to Lego machine learning with the WeDo 2.0 special Lego Robotics' kit (maybe with 2 smart hubs, etc) and in Google Research Football etc. - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/02/flying-and-gliding-animals-this-is-next.html  - are a lot of virtual world dots to connect, but would open up vast learning horizons (in so many countries and languages even, and re World Univ & Sch).

Am interested in building a best STEM CC-4 OCW-centric WUaS curriculum for Lego Robotics for WUaS College level Engineering majors, potentially taking courses on the edX platform in addition to the one best STEM CC-4 OCW Lego resource - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/experimental-study-group/es-293-lego-robotics-spring-2007/- as well as curriculum for something like IB high school science majors. Please keep your ears open if you learn of people creating this. (Am reading Karen Brennan's Twitter feed - https://twitter.com/karen_brennan - and re Creative Computing with Scratch programming in these regards, but am not seeing much about Lego Robotics with Scratch out of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, which is a direction WUaS is heading in for major online universities in all ~200 countries' official languages! ). Thank you!

I appreciated your coding progression slide - about the 6th to last - in these regards too. Very nice to meet you too, Alex, Brian and Leanna!

Thanks so much for your help yesterday, and for your great presentation, Leanna. Hi Alexandra,

Thanks so much for your email.

World Univ & Sch is seeking to develop 'Home Robotics' - potentially with Lego Robotics' kits - where WUaS would send Lego kits to matriculated WUaS students, in an 'engineering' major (or with a high school 'science' focus), in their homes in all ~200 countries - with courses emerging from something like this best STEM CC-4 OCW course - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/experimental-study-group/es-293-lego-robotics-spring-2007/ - into something like edX, and initially at the high school and undergraduate levels (and also with Scratch language programming). The Lego robotics' kits would initially include WeDo 2.0, Spike Prime, Mindstorms EV3 / Mindstreams, etc.). This would be for students learning machine learning eventually as well. WUaS has an #ActualVirtual #PhysicalDigital focus, and potentially in a #RealisticVirtualEarthForRobotics too (e.g. with - - - 's educational version of Minecraft / Brick Street View in Google Street View, where Brick here refers to a Lego brick). While WUaS is seeking to matriculate our 2nd undergraduate class online this autumn, and at present for just a few prospective undergraduate students (in 6 majors), WUaS would eventually seek to have online undergraduate classes of possibly 2,000 students, first in English, and then in each of all ~200 countries' official / main languages (since Scratch programming is in these languages too). So in these online (licensing and accrediting) high school and college contexts, in what ways could WUaS let students get such Lego Robotics' kits? Could WUaS make these available in a WUaS online robotics' store, for example? What would you suggest in exploring these ideas further? And how might WUaS best make Lego Robotics' kits be available to our undergraduate Engineering majors beginning this autumn, please?

Thank you so much, and I look forward to hearing from you further about some of these ideas.

Best, Scott

1.So in these online (licensing and accrediting) high school and college contexts, in what ways could WUaS let students get such Lego Robotics' kits? Could WUaS make these available in a WUaS online robotics' store, for example?
  •  Our products are available on our LEGO Education store. So the easiest way would be to include a link to our site. We would have to talk a little more to be understand your store and see if this works for you.

Hi Alexandra,

Thanks for your responses. I'll seek to reply inline in kind:

Regarding your:
- "Our products are available on our LEGO Education store. So the easiest way would be to include a link to our site. We would have to talk a little more to be understand your store and see if this works for you."

A Lego Education store link in WUaS online bookstores / computer stores / robotics' stores initially would work. WUaS is planning to develop our online stores with TensorFlow AI potentially, and in many languages with time. Eventually, WUaS seeks to have on-the-ground educational services' stores too in all ~200 countries (am thinking WalMart), so it would be great to talk further about this. If WUaS added a LEGO Education store link, and WUaS students got Lego Robotics' kits for their courses from the WUaS store, how does that work? Would Spike Prime be something the WUaS younger online high schools could get for online STEAM work, since WUaS is planning only to be online schools (and I've heard that only schools can get Spike Prime)?

And regarding your:
- "I’m available for a phone call to further discuss your needs. How does next week look for you?"

Talking next week could work for me. What are some good times for you?

Dear Neil, Roland, Nicole and Liam,

Sounds good, and thanks for connecting in various ways. Looking forward to staying in touch. Neil, FYI, am fascinated that so many newspapers in many languages are machine translatable with increasing quality - and probably with Google Translate (and so probably with TensorFlow AI), which is in about ~100 languages (probably representing most of the ~200 countries' official / main languages in the world).

While World Univ & Sch donated itself for co-development to Wikidata (Wikipedia's 'back end' structured knowledge database) in their ~300 languages in 2015, and received the WUaS Miraheze MediaWiki as 'front end' in 2017, they aren't yet interoperable:

https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages (planning to be in all 7,117 known living languages)

Glad that best STEM CC-4 OCW-centric wiki World University and School will likely offer edX courses (including especially best STEM CC-4 CW into ---x courses) to our matriculating undergraduates this autumn.

Have blogged some about this here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/06/flowering-silversword-lego-education.html - at bottom; (will blog with a list of newspapers to experiment with soon).

(Again, FYI, WUaS donated itself to Wikidata for co-development in 2015 as a "back end" structured knowledge database in Wikipedia's ~300 languages, and received the WUaS Miraheze MediaWiki, as "front end," in 2017 - eg https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/The_College_at_World_University_and_School - but they aren't yet interoperable).

Thank you.

Sounds good.
Here are some foreign language newspapers to try out Google Translate in a browser with - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/03/mirabilis-jalapa-greece-world-univ-sch.html - and more here - https://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/news.html#record.

Learning about legal contracts by matriculated WUaS online law students in each of all ~200 countries' official languages probably has some educational history in each countries' legal system. How could AI make this process 'rock' for law students (was about to write 'Stanford' in lieu of 'rock,' as in 'to rock and roll' or to "be full of life and excitement")? Perhaps Stanford Law makes learning law and contracts easy, or 'rock'? Makes sense. And students could do what you suggest Neil much in Google Docs for its potential integration with Google Translate too - for ease of learning.

As World University and School (which is like 'best STEM CC-4 OCW' in its 4 languages, and Wikipedia in its ~300 languages) enters into relationships potentially with all ~200 countries' Departments of Education, and even their equivalent of US counties in all 50 US states, contracts in multiple languages for matriculating students from each of those countries may make sense. (WUaS is aiming for 'reimbursement,' based on 'best STEM CC-4 OCW OpenCourseWare,' of tuition at Stanford Law, for example).

Thanks,
Scott
