Further bagpiping envisioning ... for  'Honey in the Bag' upcoming album - on Scottish Small Pipes ~

Beyond space ship idea - with Scottish small piping ray-gun to beam people up

And bringing radiance into piping

And recently ... growing from my actual real recordings from last year

And
Creating 'magic' flow experiences for people ... purring too (like this Hopkinson Smith playing JS Bach on Lute does for me - https://youtu.be/pTBooio3h9U)

Had hoped to have a first recording of all tunes done by May, but I could conceivably do that pretty soon even.

Still seeking novel transformative vision for this piping album, along the lines if " * * * Playing the Scottish small pipes, I'd like to be a kind of space ship that soars down from the atmosphere and with a series of tones transports you the listener to another world. :) .... " - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/04/red-trillium-cow-and-calf-what-is-cow.html - and some other visions, and in the playing itself, but will keep exploring by playing daily :)

... somehow transforming consciousness even :)

May not take the risk of going to the Rainbow Gathering this year after all, although it would be nice to see Ann around that time.

Further inspirations:

Stuart Liddell / Gordon Duncan

Kathryn Tickell

Grateful Dead for their own sound

Jimi Hendrix for rock and roll mastery in a way (space ship beaming down ...)

Ma,

Good luck with finding a keyed alto recorder.

Was piping 2 nights' ago playing 4 jigs, one titled 'Honey in the Bag' and had a success with bringing them up to speed while using metronome (around 10:30pm).

Speed helps with generating elation, happiness even re flow experiences for listeners.

Aiming for 108-120 bpm,
I began with the challenging one, at 80 bpm:

'Calm before the Storm'

And this worked

Then played the easier jigs -

'Out of the Air'
'The Whistling Postman'
'Honey in the Bag'

at 80 bpm

Began the easier ones again at 90 bpm, and then 'Calm before the Storm' and could play this at this tempo.

Then 100 bpm worked for all 4, 'Calm ...' last.

When I next tried them at 110 bpm, I couldn't play 'Calm ...' but am getting there.

... and regarding 'Guidelines for Practicing a Musical Instrument,' and setting and charting goals ... http://scottmacleod.com/GuidelinesPracticingMusicalInstrument.htm ...

And NEWLY to think about re further growth envisioning, this just popped up ...
http://scottmacleod.com/GuidelinesPracticingLovingBlissvavMusicalInstrument.htm ... idea and music-wise.

David just emailed from Cuttyhunk and has had 3 great weeks quarantining on Cuttyhunk, with 1 to go. He asks if I'm coming out, and with American Airline filling seats from July 1 (requiring masks and a survey etc. beforehand), I'm thinking about quarantining upon entry to Massachusetts on Cuttyhunk beginning in early August.

Love, Scott

Hi Ma,

As I texted yesterday evening:
How was your day, Ma? Beautiful here and was out walking for 1 hour, down, and up, then on the level way, other side of massif and around. Had just finished Minutes, - and now since Google Maps stopped working months ago on OLD Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone and Youtube stopped today, I've been researching smartphones too. The GOOGLE Pixel 4a smartphone is due out on Oct 22 and works well with VR - ie Virtual Reality, like Google's DayDream mask - and will cost less than $400 (and has some impressive predecessors). I think my current impressively well-designed Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone with Android OS too (not Apple iPhone's iOS) will last, even if key Applications are broken! How was your walk? (Sorry to learn Shelly Granger passed away).

Love, Scott

Some further thoughts and resources regarding an upcoming Google Pixel 4a smartphone and with Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, - and Google Lens.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Lens

Looks like Google Lens can be used for a universal translator and text & voice translation (something I'm seeking to facilitate), and that it can be used to KEY flower species or at least identify plants and animals - and buildings too, with machine learning. Key flower species would be amazing, and you and I have already talked about keying birds with our smartphones.

It seems like this smartphone could well facilitate a new social science method I'm developing called ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy ... I need to think this through further! It also has a camera on its front and back!

Love, Scott

The iPhone - Apple (IE) smartphone at around $400 is its competitor I think.

What is AR Doodle?
AR Doodle is a feature on Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, and Z Flip - and potentially the Google Pixel 4a - that uses augmented reality technology to let you draw in 3D with your finger, or on Note10 and Note10+ with the S Pen. Available in the Camera app, AR Doodle mode enhances videos by giving you the power to add line drawings or handwriting to your environment — and your doodles track faces and space so when you move around, the drawings move with you.
