Just playing my Scottish Small Pipes and a full long Piobaireachd classical Scottish Bagpiping piece... and because I started earlier today I was able to practice the Crunluath a Mach movement at the end more slowly than the first time, and especially work on the high hand's fingering... Navigating feelings too, by playing earlier in the day, and aiming to play for 45 minutes all told, perhaps the rest of this before bedtime. Made a connection with Tom McNalley MD at UCSF )who knows Byron Hann MD too), a Reedie and friend from my year in Munich LMU and the Reed College program there, when I lived with a Quaker family for my last 2.5 months there. Tom became a MD in Iowa years after graduation from Reed in German, and is a physiatrist and a new Prof at UCSF too ... Could he know MDs at Kaiser too, and be involved with UCSF MEDICINE information technology and Kaiser Permanente health organization's too ... Ma, As I wait to hear about next steps regarding my moving back again into a safe Canyon, having heard from Navin Doshi north of Berkeley in an 'unsafe house' about this in a promising way today at noon, and with plans to call Larry this evening about this, I wonder about questions of flourishing bagpiping playing and learning, and regarding even meaning in thinking about playing daily. Karen Brennan asks a whole different set of 'why' questions in this free chapter online on Computer Science teaching, and entitled "A Case for Why: Society, School, Self" - https://twitter.com/karen_brennan/status/1533153770552627206 ... Appreciating her asking these questions about why to teach CS and writing about this too in the above terms and argument ... How to apply this thinking however metaphorically to playing the Scottish Small Pipes in terms of why and practice and learning piping further and recording so in a sense performance but in that I end up going solo in life a lot... Could I woo a life partner and Mom to be with my piping somehow? A Scottish American woman and friend and MD too?
