Dolly Sods Wilderness, WV: Canadian Geese flight poem ~ Th March 21, 2024 * "Canadian geese took flight along the Allegheny River" (Western PA) * * Professor George Church, is thinking in terms of individual humans living 150 million years with extreme longevity with genetic drug therapies and amazing biomedical engineering ahead feasible? (And how could an aging reversal machine, and think Google Street View with a time slider, connected to our genetics through avatar agent electronic health records help?)

"Canadian geese took flight along the Allegheny River" (Western PA)

Canadian geese took flight
through winter trees
along the Allegheny River, -
at Verona's public docks -
through barren branches,
elevating in slow flight,
then moving forward quickly,
then slowing to drop lower,
all to avoid branches:
amazing evolutionary biology,
natural selection, and genetics'
piloting;
They found open flight
above the river,
then landed close
on the cold water,
still near their gaggle on land,
floating safely,
a wintry wonder.

Ma, (Janie MacLeod), John (Sargent MD), George (Church, HMS), All,

Sharing a poem with you, which I just wrote (experimentally), with some aging reversal and extreme longevity genetics' questions that follow. Professor George Church, is thinking in terms of individual humans living 150 million years with extreme longevity with genetic drug therapies and amazing biomedical engineering ahead feasible? (And how could an aging reversal machine, and think Google Street View with a time slider, connected to our genetics through avatar agent electronic health records help?)

Again, from text I recently shared with my mother -

"Ma! 'How old is the Allegheny river?' - Here's one perspective - "The sources for these ancestral rivers were in the mountains to the east, which predated the Appalachians. The history of the Allegheny River as we know it today probably began back at the beginning of the Cenozoic Era, about sixty million years ago (Wagner, 1970)."

It's been flowing by Longwood in Verona, and Callowhill St in Highland Park / East Liberty, Pgh PA, for a long time ... will we be around in 150 million years let alone at age 150 years, with aging reversal and extreme longevity genetic drug therapies emerging, and with amazing biomedical engineering ahead?  🙂, Love, Scott (https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/longevity and https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/genes :)"

Further, and from an email I just shared with my mother:

I went to the Verona Public Docks at the Steel City Rowing area on the Allegheny River (where I first car camped in August of 2022 in asylum in western PA having fled for my life from the SF Bay Area) ... and came upon a gaggle of 5 geese ...

As I walked along the river near the gaggle, 2 geese took to flight and out toward the river, and through many trees and their branches ... and navigated in flight through these trees remarkably, with amazing flight skills, seeming to elevate while pausing moving forward quickly to avoid branches ... It was amazing to see the flying skill of these two geese, and selected for by natural selection and evolutionary biology and genetics ... Haiku~ish poem perhaps emerging ...

Fondly, Scott

Color Study - Yellows 22 x 15"

"What happens if" - this is a question I like to ask myself before starting a painting. Giving myself a new technical challenge, with each new start, keeps me curious. I might try new textures, color combinations or materials I haven't used before. Some experiments are more successful than others - some are colossal failures - but the exercise promotes stylistic growth, and leads to more interesting results. The paintings to the left are an example of experimenting with layering warm and cool colors.

Solo Art Exhibit - April 10 - May 5

I will be exhibiting my latest experiments, a new series of boat paintings, in the Building 5 Front Gallery at the Workhouse Arts Center from April 10 through May 5. The opening reception is from 6-9pm Saturday, April 13. An explanation of each experiment explored will be provided, allowing visitors to learn more about my creative process.

Recently Sold - Thank you!

The sale of a painting feels great, but I'm also endlessly grateful to those who visit my studio, follow me on Instagram or Facebook, who offer words of encouragement, or read my newsletters! ;)

Hi Phoebe,

How are you? Thanks for your email. Just shared the following poem I wrote today with you and friends, family and contacts, and thought you might be interested, per your email.

"What Happens If" ... we live longer than 122 years of age (re the longest documented living person - and even far longer than that with extreme longevity genetics' drug therapies emerging)? :)

So give 3 cheers, best wishes, See you on Cuttyhunk this summer perhaps, Scott
