Good to have just heard from you, Anette, in Finland, just now, and whom I met in India in around 2005, I think (at the UNESCO World Heritage Site wonder of the world, Khajuraho, with her Finnish traveling companion, Helene . :) What do you think? Do Harbin Hot Springs have many parallels with Khajuraho? And can we visit these places virtually?

I also noticed that you were Rector of the University for Peace of the United Nations and are now Rector Emeritus, and mentioned religion in Fettes Climate Change presentation too regarding poverty and peace. Having become a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Edinburgh, when studying at the University of Edinburgh in the School of Scottish and Celtic Studies (regarding nascent virtual St Kilda and how people understand it sense of place), for a second full year there (after at Fettes in 1977-78), what role do you think religion might play in Climate Change mitigation? For about 23 years, as a kind of Quaker Friendly witness, I didn't ride in automobiles or cars, also as a kind of conscientious objection, and protest. While a very small expression regarding Global Warming with its enormous dire effects for people, I wonder if religious witness and protest will be instrumental in contributing to a solution. Regarding Quaker activism, I notice Greta Thunberg may be becoming an effective voice in holding nations accountable. 

I'm hopeful too that Germany World University and School (regarding your wife's origins) - and having heard your reference to the European Commission doing well now - I wonder how Germany in particular will help with this. 

As a Quaker Friendly 'leading' itself,  and as founder, president, and professor at MIT OCW-centric, wiki World University and School, how might we best explore some of these questions further? Thank you so much.

And while I also paid rent at 670a Ridgecrest in Canyon for around 13 years ... (As a kind of down payment, but cash without ever signing any paperwork) ...

I think you're right Ma about absolutely not thinking about moving back in there ... Until and if the State of CA and the US federal authorities get their combined Acts together ... re covert criminality for ex.

I could imagine, for example, bringing a life partner there, my wife to be, and she getting hurt by someone running their truck into her as she was bicycling along the Canyon main road (a news story yesterday in Boston.com about the wife of Fall River Massachusetts' mayor getting hit on her bicycle) ... and while I'm wary, from living many years there, and seeing some damage done too, my wife or friends too wouldn't be wary ...(and thanks Ed for walking up the main road together with me in spring 2020 when you last visited!)

Does Canyon's 'culture' specialize in harming people and things? Is that what 'Canyon critters' refer to in part? C'est possible ...

But as we also talked Ma as I was moving out of Canyon a year ago today, I wonder if Canyon can be changed culturally, with the help of psychiatry, of even good rigorous thinking, of Kaiser Permanente Health organization resources, and law enforcement ... And even something like religion (eg good Quakerism, good Christianity even somehow ... Regarding for example being leaders in the Abolition movement over centuries, as well as in the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s and '70s ) ... 

But while your kindness, Ma, also seems effective in dealing at times with problematic cultures and people (s) ... Better to seek asylum elsewhere potentially ... even if this could be a good opportunity to get ~1.5 acres of land in ~17miles x 17 miles of East Bay MUD forested and reservoirs' land and close to Berkeley Oakland SF and a lot of other people and potentially interesting cities - and Stanford university esp ...

All pretty close to my actual virtual physical digital Ethnographic Harbin Hot Springs' field site too (if the latent culture of violence of the illegal sex industry and other crime in northern California is cleaned up)

Robotics for the abolition movement focus could be great to explore too somewhere in the spring, after leaving this 'safe house' north of Berkeley!
