Two friends of mine have passed away recently, I'm sad to say, - both in their 80s.
To honor G.L.A., one of the smartest people I've known (he was interesting in a quiet thinking kind of way vis-a-vis knowing the "mind," analytical philosophy, evolutionary biology, science, mathematics, psychiatry - he was a psychiatrist, a Lacanian, a "realist," funny, and a skilled clinician in all this complexity - and he was especially nuanced with language, in conversation and reasoning-wise), I'm posting this poem by Max Ehrmann, by which G.L.A. stood:
