Dear Stephanie, and Alex,

Thanks very much for your 2 emails just now, Stephanie, and your focusing help in so many ways.

I think a realistic virtual earth for STEM - but beginning with a specific focus on developing a #RealisticVirtualEarthForGenetics for longevity (with machine learning predictions
 - https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1480214252501700612, and see item 5b in the 1/15/22 WUaS Agenda - https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2022/01/11522-sat-wuas-agenda-news-for-open.html) - https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarthForGenetics?src=hashtag_click for example - will promote the progress of science, advance national health, prosperity and welfare, and even secure national defense. I think too an Actual-Virtual, Physical-Digital approach to this single realistic virtual earth (think Google Street View with Time Slider, Maps, Earth, TensorFlowAI, Translate and realistic Avatar Bots with electronic medical records for all 331 million Americans, brainstorming-wise) with #FilmTo3D Apps (at street view, cellular and molecular levels) will further this greatly too. In addition, the all-languages' focus (7139) at World University and School will be fascinating to include regarding who on US soil speaks these languages - and for wiki STEM education communities (e.g. in the Tamil language in the US - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Tamil_language (planned in Tamil) - regarding learning programming and computer science, for example).

While WUaS seeks to reach out to prospective students in all ~50 US states (through their high school college counselors and similar) for free-to-students' CC-4 OCW.MIT.EDU-centric online degrees (Bachelor, PhD, Law, MD and IB high school), circumscribing how WUaS does this in a potential NSF grant application, when our WUaS Mission includes all countries - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Foundation - will be a helpful further focusing endeavor.

Thanks so much, Stephanie and Alex, I haven't heard of any other Universities' projects to collaborate with, from ISSIP for example, and while I continue to keep my ears' open for volunteer reviewer NSF possibilities, I may seek to write this NSF grant opportunity, if I can find a program that fits to submit this to. Seeking further to follow up on learning NSF process and procedures in these regards - for which I thank you both!

Best Regards,
Scott
See the Tweets to Dr. Elinor Karlsson of the Broad institute (at Harvard and MIT) at bottom here, regarding such a realistic virtual earth for Genetics further -

The mission of the National Science Foundation is:
To promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; and to secure the national defense; and for other purposes. NSF envisions a nation that capitalizes on new concepts in science and engineering and provides global leadership in advancing research and education.

You will find more information about NSF here: https://beta.nsf.gov/
For information regarding funding opportunities, see: https://beta.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities

If you are interested in funding, first be aware that NSF funds projects that are focused on advancing science in the United States of America, rather than non-US endeavors; work must be performed in the US. If you are interested in any of the funding opportunities, begin by reviewing each program page which will provide links to the related solicitations and recorded seminars that provide overviews of the programs. You will want to partner with US institutions of higher education and/or research to pursue funding for projects related to improving STEM education in the U.S. Additional information on preparing proposals and related resources is available from NSF Policy Office Outreach and can be found here: https://nsfpolicyoutreach.com/

I wish you success in your endeavor.

Best regards,
Stephanie August

Alex, Stephanie,

Greetings, and thanks for your communications, Alex. Here again is the ideas' 'one-pager' I shared with you last week - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/01/northern-double-collared-sunbird_0643275698.html.

I didn't add 1 of 2 WUaS financial reports to this email by accident, and so am including both of them for your consideration now.

For your interest, I've added an Agenda item (#5) regarding the NSF to the CC-4 OCW.MIT.EDU -centric wiki World University and School Agenda and News for open Monthly Business Meeting on Saturday, 1/15/22 at 9am PT, here -

Thank you,
Scott

Research question for WUaS at the NSF (National Science Foundation)?

Begin with building out a realistic virtual earth for genetics, and for aging reversal, and longevity machine learning developments at the cellular and molecular levels, as part of building out a single realistic virtual earth for everything, for STEM and as classroom?

In communication with NSF's Alexandra Medina-Borja, and former NSFer Stephanie August (both recent ISSIP panelists)

Research question for WUaS at the NSF?

How best to build out a realistic virtual earth for all STEM disciplines and as STEM field sites, and classrooms?

I'm particularly interested in the virtual learning environments you mention at the close of your talk, and regarding WUaS planning to facilitate a single realistic virtual earth for Classrooms, and as STEM field sites, and for genetics and everything (eg see some of these #hashtags here -

https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1478416299713699841?s=20 - and it's possible to find other related #RealisticVirtualEarth #Hashtags, eg here  https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarthForGenetics?src=hashtag_click - on Twitter, and think Google Street View with time slider, Maps, Earth, TensorFlow, Translate, and at the cellular and molecular levels too, and even for avatar bot electronic medical records for all 7.9 billion people on the planet, each a Wikidata Pin #, and in the online WUaS Medical School(s) and online Teaching Hospital (s)) -

Begin in part with a realistic virtual earth for genetics and aging reversal? Code with Scratch programming language even, and study how students do this?

"Priority 3a: Enhance the use of technological innovations in both in-person and virtual learning spaces.

Priority 3b: Prepare educators to provide rich learning experiences for all students.

Challenge:

Understand how virtual distance learning environments affect cognition and learning

Actions:

Research is needed to build a deeper understanding of the possibilities of virtual and hybrid distance learning environments, from how they affect the development of skills and abilities, to the pedagogies and curriculum that work best."

National Science Foundation (NSF) Scott GK MacLeod @ World University and School’s One-page Idea for Alexandra Medina-Borja program 2022

Dear Alexandra,

My broad research question at CC-4 ocw.mit.edu -centric wiki World Univ & Sch: How best to build out a realistic virtual earth for all STEM disciplines and as STEM field sites, and classrooms?

I'm particularly interested in the virtual learning environments you mention at the close of your ISSIP talk, and regarding WUaS planning to facilitate a single realistic virtual earth for Classrooms, and as STEM field sites, and for genetics and everything (eg see some of these #hashtags here - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1478416299713699841?s=20 - and it's possible to find other related #RealisticVirtualEarth #Hashtags, e.g. here  https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarthForGenetics?src=hashtag_click - on Twitter, and think Google Street View with time slider, Maps, Earth, TensorFlowAI, Translate, and at the cellular and molecular levels too, and even with 'artificial people' as avatar bot electronic medical records and their genomes for all 7.9 billion people on the planet, each a Wikidata Pin #, and in the online WUaS Medical School(s) and online Teaching Hospital (s)).

So, idea-wise, begin in part with the NSF developing a realistic virtual earth for genetics and aging reversal, and longevity (more than 122 years of age for humans, with machine learning), and drugs for this too? (Explore, too, students in courses coding this with the Scratch programming language even, and study how students do this, comparatively and across languages, and from state to state in the US?)

In response to your slide at the 23 minute mark:

"Priority 3a: Enhance the use of technological innovations in both in-person and virtual learning spaces.

Priority 3b: Prepare educators to provide rich learning experiences for all students.

Challenge:

Understand how virtual distance learning environments affect cognition and learning

Actions:

Research is needed to build a deeper understanding of the possibilities of virtual and hybrid distance learning environments, from how they affect the development of skills and abilities, to the pedagogies and curriculum that work best."

(from "ISSIP NSF Workshop Nov 10, 2021, Long Term Impact of COVID 19 on Work, Learning, and Skills" - https://youtu.be/_rK9IANvjQg - Nov 10, 2021 - Alexandra Medina-Borja at 23:00 - 24:01)

a) prioritize developing this single realistic virtual earth to be "student-centered, personalized, and equitable," b) making "when we teach," clear concerning "what is it we teach," and c) developing other coding focuses "for the worker learners."

Please consider too this one email page idea in regards to this NSF thinking too -

Thank you for your consideration of this one-page idea.
