Hi Scott,

Please mail me when our University is licensed. I have been waiting for that for a while now because I share your vision.

All other mails regarding meetings, etc. are irrelevant to me at the moment.

Hi Shahbaz, Universitians,

Thanks very much for your email. As you know, both CC-4 "CS First with Google at World University and School 'and CC-4 OCW.MIT.EDU ARE licensed, and so is World Univ & Sch as a 501 c 3 in the USA, and as a 2nd non-profit legal entity in California. And the relatively new WUaS Corporation, a 3rd legal entity at WUaS, is also licensed as a for-profit general stock company in California (for our WUaS Educational Services' stores, including online Robotics' stores, and the Academic Press too).

And in terms of a kind of accreditation ~ in the information internet age ~ and as you'll read here - https://csfirst.withgoogle.com/s/en/home,  "CS First is aligned to education standards: - CSTA and ISTE. (And CA's BPPE, which WUaS has engaged before, for initial licensing - https://twitter.com/CaBPPE - doesn't seem to be active any longer on Twitter, and which would have worked hand-in-hand with accrediting agency WASC senior https://twitter.com/wascsenior - perhaps due to the challenges of accreditation and licensing online, and post coronavirus pandemic too).

So, in many ways, WUaS is as licensed as we can be currently, and will continue to license as the opportunity emerges. Questions further? What could be of help to you now, Shahbaz, if World Univ & Sch is already licensed, i.e. is benefitting from these various forms of licensing? Do you know of students who would like to matriculate at WUaS since WUaS is licensed ? Thanks for letting me know you're interested in WUaS's licesning - and possibly regarding India too - and I'll try to touch on that in next weeks ~4 minutes' WUaS News and Q&A among other News. Would you like to begin to study with the licensed, free "CS First with Google at WUaS" course now?

All the best (licensing-wise too),

Scott

What I meant was that WUaS being fully accredited regionally. That would help underprivileged students from India and all over the world.

Shahbaz,

Thank you for your email.

Regarding accreditation, licensing (Creative CommonS' 4 license - which allows for 1. sharing, 2. adapting, but 3. non-commercially), and IT platform developments, and in that World University and School is in WUaS Google Workspace for Education, I think for WUaS that Google is the path forward to access to highest quality Free courses and degrees presently.

Glad to write that the new Zoom video conferencing is allowing recordings of the WUaS News and Q&As to be saved - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/01/northern-spotted-owl-strix-occidentalis.html - (eg to my hard drive, and then uploaded to a blog for example) and you'll find this first WUaS News & Q&A for 1/10/22 in this blog post.

And Universitians, and All: Thanks so much for your emails, Mwende. I edited your email about Cameroon ,and studying at WUaS for credit for free 4 year Bachelor's degree, a bit for clarity - and added it to the WUaS Agenda and News on 1/15/22 at 9am Pacific Time, which I think is 6pm Cameroon time. I think too I'd like at WUAS to focus further on play in learning to code with the Python Programming language (and with Lego Spike Prime robotics' kits), but not leave out ocw.mit.edu of the learning process.

Larry, Nancy, Mike, and others who may be interested or planning to join the conversation this 1/15/22: WUaS Monthly Business Meeting which is open and an hour long meets this Saturday at 9am Pacific Time, and is conducted loosely in the manner of Friends, and this month's Agenda is full, and it will likely be a kind of 'lightning' monthly business meeting too (please glance through it beforehand so we can 'riff' together as we explore),

I may add another Agenda item about all ~22 official languages in India and WUaS plans to create wiki schools in each of these, and probably for online free university and high school degrees too, which you'll find here -  https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/01/blog-post.html (and more).

Thank you Mr Scott for your support.

As far as Scratch is concerned, if it is not going to affect my results then there is no problem.

For the past 6 years, Cameroon has been going through a series of crises in which the English speaking regions are trying to secede from the French speaking part due to marginalization but the Government is against it hence the wars, the internally displaced and many issues emanating from the crises. That means, even if people are willing to go in for a free Bachelors degree, there is no guarantee of having a stable internet connection and even stable electricity reason why people are not showing enough interest in this program for now but once I'll be done with the "Certificate (Degree)" and the skills they will have more reasons to follow suit. I am doing everything possible to complete this program and I will even love to take the 5 years masters degree if possible as it will boost my country men to see reasons to adopting it and even integrating it as a part of the educational system.

For the mean time, I am very focused on completing this program and using the skills as proof the churn in more people, in Africa, the best evidence is success hence until you've made it you can hardly convince people about anything.

With your support, we will make it happen.

Thanky once more,

Best Regards,

Mwende Evande.

Mwende,

Thanks for the information and news about Cameroon too. Glad both the CC-4 'CS First with Google at World University and School' course and for example this half-length CC-4 licensed "Introduction to Computer Science and Programming in Python" -

https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-0001-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-in-python-fall-2016/ - have thought through questions of situations where internet connection is not working at times. THE CS FIRST class would be worth 3 credit units upon completion of the course, and the "Introduction to Computer Science and Programming in Python" would be worth 1.5 credit units, and could be followed with its companion course

https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-0002-introduction-to-computational-thinking-and-data-science-fall-2016/ for another 1.5 credit units.

All toward a CS MAJOR re WUAS distribution requirements.

Am wondering if the Lego Spike Prime Robotics' Kit will come to interoperate with the Python language courses at MIT OCW. If so, I am wondering how you could get this kit from the WUaS Educational Services' Bookstore and Robot Store.

Lego Robotics towards an Engineering MINOR for you, Mwende, at OCW Courses' WUaS for your 4 years' 120 Unit Bach degree?

WUaS is thinking about micro-credentialing along the way to a 4 years' 120 credit unit WUAS Bachelor's degree, so a certificate of completion for this "CS FIRST WITH GOOGLE AT WUAS" IS POSSIBLE.

Please let me know.

Best wishes,

Scott

Having noticed that you've studied in California and Georgia too, I am curious in what ways your historical focus extends or could extend to California and the west coast, - and if the SF Bay Area, and northern California, and especially Harbin could be of interest to you (as field sites in a sense)?

The 1960s and 1970s are also very much an academic focus of mine and in innovative ways, too ... perhaps even emerging from that time somehow, and regarding a realistic virtual earth for history - https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarthForHistory?src=hashtag_click (for example, and anthropology and languages and STEM too) - and think also: all of us adding resources to Google Street View with TIME SLIDER Maps Earth TensorFlowAi and Translate, in a new method I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy (https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy).

How might we best communicate further about some of these common academia interests, Elizabeth? (I majored in Religion and German at Reed College, Uta, and was good friends and housemates and in a communal house - a 'Reed house' - with Carla Mann, who is now a Dance Professor at Reed, and whom I've wondered whether you may know, Nicky. Do you by chance know Carla:?).

Dear Elizabeth,

How's your inner Yoga bodymind doing these days? How is the professional world of academic analytical history going? I admire your focus on the history of 1960-1980, of its culture and thinking, of the somewhat difficult to access 'First Ladies' in the East Wing of the White House, - and possibly a bit from a Yoga perspective AND possibly a Welsh English Celtic thinking woman's perspective too. I also enjoyed your Yoga lesson from the spring of 2020 (and with your 3 dogs coming in:), and the kindness with which you teach and connect with people through this Yoga. (Did Yoga come into British life significantly in the 1960s & '70s as I posit it did in the USA?) Some further helpful(?) ideas and questions for you (and regarding some research questions we may have in common follow). Might we develop a conversation about this online possibly? (And might even OCW.mit.edu Work World University and School, of which I'm the founder and head, be of help?)

... Brainstorming wise, and in thinking about your research, and having lived in the DC area from ~1971-74 (and not that far away in other cities too, culturally, before and after), I'm curious about possibly hippy thinking 'in the air' that might have wafted into the East Wing throughout the 1960s and '70s, as a possible fascinating academic analytical argument even (with traction, eg since there were a lot of protests outside the White House throughout these 2 decades), and among especially the 'First Ladies' in the White House culturally. :) How did alternative culture and thinking find its way into the White House, and then to the wives of presidents (from JFK TO LBJ - including TO RFK TO MLK JR - TO JIMMY AND ROSALYNN CARTER +)? But when I see some of the pictures you share on Twitter, for ex., I realize how many possible resources, photos & similar there are to choose from in writing your upcoming book, and wonder how you decide (re history as an interpretive practice like ethnography and anthropology, and regarding my actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' Ethnographic book and project). (And with your interest in Yoga, one book comes to mind by Sydney Ahlstrom, "A Religious History of the American people, published by Yale University Press in around 1972 (just before my family moved from New Haven CT to Bethesda Maryland near DC), which he, AS A YALE HISTORIAN, living, teaching, and researching through the tumultuous 1960s on the Eastern Seaboard of the US, chose to end with Earth Day in ~1968, a radical thing for a Yale historian to do at the time, and ever perhaps (up to that time; has writing history for academic historians begun after 50 or so years historically in general?). (Sydney was a neighbor in Hamden, CT, and I was friends with the Ahlstrom's 4 children, his youngest son, Sydney, being born on the same day and year as I was). I have no idea if 'First Ladies' in the East Wing (Jacqueline Kennedy and Lady Bird Johnson?) from 1961-1968, or Yoga in America, would be mentioned in his book, but it could be interesting to see. Yale's libraries could possibly be of help too.

And in another light, ... & brainstorming wise ... how also for all of us to add iteratively photos, videos, film, interactive interviews (converted into conversational Avatar Bots, in the future), documents, things we know, about the East Wing rooms for example, over all these 20 years, to an emerging Realistic Virtual Earth and for History, - think in Google Street View with time slider, Maps, Earth, TensorFlowAI, Translate and even with Avatar Bots with their Electronic Medical Records with genetics, for these ladies and their staff, if available, and everyone else therein the East Wing - for historical interpretation and writing history?

(I'm including my friend Andrew Lownie in London, from Fettes College in Edinburgh Scotland, where I studied for a year doing the first year of A levels, and played also in the Fettes College pipe band together a bit; I noticed too he's published a book by your Exeter advisor:)

With best wishes, Scott

PS

Thanks for this thinking -

https://directory.yogaallianceprofessionals.org/united-kingdom/betws-y-coed/yoga-teacher/elizabeth-rees

I have recently qualified as a vinyasa flow yoga teacher, and have also been trained in yoga for teenagers and taught restorative yoga classes.

Having discovered yoga in my late teens, I found sanctuary in yoga whilst struggling with mental health during my time at university, and so undertook yoga teacher training as a way to enhance my knowledge of yoga and my own practice, as well as being able to share what I loved doing with others through teaching alongside completing my degree in English and History at Exeter University.

I undertook intensive practice and training at Falmouth Yoga Space under the supervision of Keren Cooksy and Amanda Brown, and have also practiced hot yoga and slower forms of vinyasa at other studios in my home town of Malvern in Worcestershire.

My classes use intelligent sequencing to move the body safely through the asana, usually themed around exploring a particular chakra- I especially like to work with muladhara chakra to ground myself, and I feel like this is a particularly important theme for people to practice with given the hectic nature of our lives today.

I completed my Masters degree at UCL in American History and Politics. Whilst in London I also worked as a Vice Warden in university accommodation dealing with pastoral issues. During my time in London I developed my own practice with Janet McKay, Bridget Woods-Kramer, Melody Hekmat, Louis Valentine and Durga Devi. I also taught private classes at the Royal Veterinary College Student's Union.

I then worked as a supervisor and Assistant Centre manager at Camden triyoga, the largest yoga studio in London and perhaps Europe. Whilst there I learnt about the business side and practicalities of running a yoga studio, whilst spending time meeting fantastic yogis, including Gurmukh and continuing to develop my own practice deeper.

I have relocated to North Wales to spend time with my family before I undertake PhD study in history. I currently cover classes at studios in the surrounding area, and teach in Betws-Y-Coed. I am happy to take on private individual and group classes, as well as larger public classes in studios or gyms.

THANKS FOR THIS TOO - and great to see you're a teacher ...
