Hugh and Susan and All,
I regret to inform you that I will not make it back to Pittsburgh for this evening's last Scottish Country Dance on Mt. Washington - http://www.pittsburghscottishcountrydance.org/Calendar.html. I called Susan on Saturday thinking I might change my flight from Sunday, December 24th, to Sunday, December 17th, if and only if, by some stroke of good fortune, she were going to be at this Scottish Country dance on Mt Washington on this evening of December 18th, but alas, I fear this may not be the case. So, if by chance some of you will be in three-river city sometime between December 25th and December 29th, it would be wonderful to see you. Alas, I fear however we may not be able to Scottish country dance together.
Perhaps, as an alternative, we can add, however, a video from the Scottish Country Dance on Mt. Washington tonight, and then add it to a realistic virtual earth, convert it into 3D interactivity, - and all dance together remotely and virtually from where we are in front of our computer screens (albeit without weight bearing in this very social dance form). I'm calling this method ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy.
In a related vein, visit the Harbin Hot Springs' gate house ~ http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg ~ in Google Streetview with time slider, accessible from here - https://twitter.com/HarbinBook - and "walk" down the road to Middletown, CA, 4 miles away, to which you could add photos and videos too ... and see the beginnings of a realistic virtual Harbin / earth for ethnographic field work, as well as, for example, for hippy explorations. Hopefully we'll be able to convert films into 3D interactive virtual worlds with AVATAR BOTs in the future (thinking Google Hangouts into Youtube into 3D virtual worlds that are group build able ... and back into Streetview that's grown in its virtual world interactivity), and all soak remotely together from our bathtubs with digital masks, (if you might find that enjoyable, in a hippy-to-the-hot-spring kinda way :).
Next new book, and first book of poetry coming out very soon ~

Might we find our way, Jean and M (and Hugh and Susan?) to a Christmas walk again this year?
A very merry festive season, a happy, healthy New Year, and a happy, healthy 2018 to you ALL as well,
It will be especially wonderful to see you over Christmas.
As I further prepare the manuscript of my first book of poetry ~ Haiku-ish ~ it seems like it could be a good idea to begin to prepare my second book of poetry at the same time, re my blog labels, and
updating the photos in my blog, etc. (but not in the books, since I think these photos are CC-3, so non-commercial). This second book of poetry could emerge before my next Harbin actual-virtual ethnographic project planned book, around the building of a realistic virtual Harbin for comparative field work ... and hopefully when I'm a professor in the MIT Media Lab ...
Heading to SCD music-making this evening ... hoping to draw Patti back to sit next to me, and to model playing keyboard with my right hand, - if Yoyo is there, and interested in playing the piano up front for a few dances, in lieu of Patti :)

Made much progress on my poetry book yesterday afternoon, after hiking with Ed. In fact, it all kind of came together - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.
com/2017/12/mauis-dolphin- poetry-book-haiku-ish.html?m=0. Based on my first book's manuscript as template, I've begun my new book's front pages and table of contents too.
Waiting to hear back from the MIT Media Lab about my faculty application, and getting this book accessible on paper, may be an important step.
Would love to hear more descriptors about your trip, and how you're doing otherwise :)
