Hi M,
Swimming near the cove and the CYC dock sound beautiful! Perhaps I can bring down augmented reality glasses to the waters near the CYC dock in the next few years, with my kids - and possibly visit virtual Harbin even while soaking there, but also with Cuttyhunk friends in new ways, and get the benefits/enjoyment of traveling - the walk - as well (kind of like walking up the hill to the Harbin Hot Springs' warm pool from wherever one parks there, which I think has many benefits, as does the actual travel / drive to Harbin) - but hang out mostly with my kids (to come) and my family and friends (than with Harbin-ite avatar bots, for example) - as a realistic virtual earth grows. (Technologies like life jackets and Laser sail boats have been used for decades on Cuttyhunk, so embracing new technologies like augmented reality glasses for visiting a realistic virtual earth will probably happen smoothly:) ... but who knows).
Swimming near the cove on Cuttyhunk makes a lot of sense when Church's beach is rough due to weather especially. And I suspect it's clean - given the Massachusetts' DEP (https://www.mass.gov/orgs/massachusetts-department-of-environmental-protection) which I suspect is effective. The waters around the yacht club dock didn't have the best reputation in the '70s and '80s for cleanliness, although I certainly swam in those waters when in Yacht Club then for example.
Appreciating too that you're reading and 'getting' my emails - thank you! - Nice to be 'conversing' a bit more in email.
Do you think Pres T will be out in the next days per your newscaster's observation - https://twitter.com/jlovellsjawp/status/1027827525328592896 - a few days ago? Still seeking to find out whether I can get the "NewsHour" (formerly formerly the McNeil Lehrer News Hour) out here on TV. But my Smart TV is working out well (could potentially go to "live" recorded Grateful Dead or Telemann concerts all day long from Youtube video ... and eventually they could become interactive even :) ... hoping to visit Herodotus's ancient world interactively at some point, and hopefully the many versions that will emerge - re ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - (all of us adding our own versions wiki-wise and in a virtual earth and about people) will include intensely interesting ones to each of us like your newscaster ... and for me, Twitter these days. The US President can be protected more than others in the political limelight, like in these rapid recent trials and convictions, up to a point ... but these events you describe are so rapid ... so who knows what will happen with the Pres T. Could make sense to not have a power vacuum, and seek to have an election in 2020 without him or his VP running. What do you think? The chaos of JF Kennedy's and Nixon's exits among others weren't great for the country, and now the information technology world / globalization is running even faster than before (and Pres T seems to be out to lunch, justice-wise especially). Maybe justice will take a fast path ...
Sounds really great to go swimming in the afternoon on a beautiful day on Cuttyhunk near the CYC in the summer :)

Marmota himalayana: The amazing and wondrous ancient Greek world, Re-reading Herodotus' "The Histories" (Oxford 1998) partly about the Peloponnesian Wars (431-404 BCE), Was kind of a first ethnographer (and is called the "father of history") and wrote about such Gold-digging ants too, I see my "Naked Harbin Ethnography" bookmark inside Herodotus's "Histories", and think that I'd very much like to be heading to Harbin Hot Springs again when it opens, Have created a kind of helpful and significant ethnographic record of, and writing about, Harbin, but find the travel to, and field work at Harbin - especially the 'making' aspect of potentially creating a realistic virtual Harbin for further actual-virtual ethnographic field work, to be more engaging and enjoyable than reading Herodotus, * * * Curious how too to make coursework at best STEM OCW-centric World Univ and Sch as engaging and enjoyable as Harbin visits, * * * Inquiry about my lifetime membership with the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco, * * * UC Berkeley Free Speech Movement cafe and how radical and turbulent campus was in 1964, * * * How best to create a #RealisticVirtualHarbin in #RealisticVirtualEarth with avatar bots? As #DigitalHistory project, & beyond archaeology (which is in need of a realistic virtual earth too), #ActualVirtualFieldWork
