Hear ye, hear ye,
Univ of Edinburgh Professor Gary West (of BBC Pipeline renown) will have given the Hamish Henderson Lecture earlier today -
Professor Gary West will be delivering this year’s Hamish Henderson Lecture at 2pm today @ScotStoryCentre. Cogadh no Sìth? Hamish Henderson, Jock Duncan & the Voicings of War https://t.co/Ya4Vpu0bum— SSSA (@EU_SSSA) November 10, 2018
https://twitter.com/EU_SSSA/status/1061221257864196097 ... Hamish Henderson was a defining Scottish ethnologist, (a Quaker too, I understand), and one who got to know the "wee folk" and write about them in a way few have done - and as an ethnomusicologist and folklorist made many many recordings with early recording technologies of folk songs, for example. Gary was my advisor at the University of Edinburgh in 2003-2004 in the School of Celtic and Scottish Studies, when I studied the island archipelago off the west coast of Scotland called St. Kilda as nascent online 'place,' and as part of two networks - the internet, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This St. Kilda project is a harbinger of my actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' project (~ http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg ~ https://twitter.com/HarbinBook ~ http://bit.ly/HarbinBook ~), as well as a realistic virtual earth and universe, at the cellular and atomic levels too, and for a new social science / humanities' / STEM method I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy ... or which Scots in academia might call anew ethno-wiki-virtual-world-ology, since Scots seem to focus on ethnology in lieu of anthropology or ethnography :)

Here by the way is the Scottish_Gaelic_language wiki subject at World Univ & Sch - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Scottish_Gaelic_language - planned in Scots' Gaelic ... along with all of the 7,097 living languages (per Ethnologue) at WUaS, each a wiki subject or school in that language for open teaching and learning - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages.
And David Chalmers, philosopher of mind, who gave a great philosophy talk on the actual and the real (which is a long time ongoing focus of mine - eg https://twitter.com/search?q=%23ActualVirtual&src=typd & https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/virtual ) at Stanford in May 2017 - and whom I heard too in Edinburgh on Thanksgiving 2003 - gives a version of his actual-real Stanford talk here in December 2017 -
David Chalmers on the virtual and the real
https://youtu.be/QMLojOcOJFI :) I hope somehow we might inquire of him to help please code for actual-virtual physical-digital questions of consciousness (and esp. re all languages), as World University and School seeks to develop a realistic virtual earth with avatar bots, of humans and other species - of individuals as well - for brain and cognitive science and questions of consciousness, and at the cellular and atomic levels.
Want to know about Scottish philosopher, David Hume and his passions -

So hear ye, hear ye, Univ of Edinburgh Professor Gary West will have given the Hamish Henderson Lecture earlier today ... :)
As aye,
Scott
Once upon a time, in a little town called Sheffield, some residents thought they saw a UFO. And now, there's a historical monument commemorating that night. :)

Seeking to see Prof. Gary West's lecture in Google Street View with TIME SLIDER, I went to the Harbin Hot Springs' gate in Google Street View ~ http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg ~ to get into Street View, clicked the back arrow in the top left to get to Search ...
... and searched on the
Scottish Storytelling Centre, 43-45 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1SR
... and found it .... looked at the TIME SLIDER feature to see if I could go back just 1 day to see this talk, but alas, this isn't possible yet ...

... I also searched on this talk in Google, and someone had already posted it to YouTube from yesterday - AMAZING!
Now I'm wondering how I might add this Youtube video to Google Street View re ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy ...

Now how best (with machine learning, especially) to access the recordings of Hamish Henderson in the University of Edinburgh's School of Celtic and Scottish Studies' archives (which may have a new name) ... listen to them online ... and even add them to Google Street View, both from in the archive and in situ? :)
