Glad to have video conferenced with Ajit Mishra directly after this in West Bengal, India, and about his students, where he has the link to this video recording. He's interested in 'how to join' World University and School for both himself and his students, who are now in many cities in India and south Asia. I mentioned the form here - http://worlduniversityandschool.org - which invites people interested in WUaS to add their names. ...

Hi Chris,

Thank you, Chris - (Scott MacLeod, World University and School here, which is like Wikipedia in 300 languages with CC-4 MIT OCW in 5 languages). CC-4 licensing allows for A) sharing, B) adapting, but C) non-commercially re MIT OCW (Ex. Dir. Cecilia d’Oliveira). Am curious about the ‘adapting’ aspect re MIT OCW. With regard to the CDLA, is adapting of MIT OCW with machine learning, say, hypothetically, via voice technologies (e.g. Google Voice, Siri, Echo ... and especially with machine translation emerging) … a copyright question … and does CC therefore refer to data too … like CDLA’s focus? Thank you for your excellent presentation!

Can you talk a little further about data (re related definitions as 'coding,' or 'material' ... https://ocw.mit.edu/terms/), CDLA and CC-4 licensing (re MIT OCW) -  with regard to data and machine learning, please?

Am curious, hypothetically and brainstorming-wise, (and Jim went to MIT as undergrad), could WUaS use machine translation to "adapt" a MIT OCW course in English into a course in another language, and then subsequently license this with CDLA per your slide 6 - http://cognitive-science.info/community/weekly-update/ ?

Thank you,
Scott

Chris,

Yes, thank you again very much! Here's a Twitter post about this -

https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1060599146397093888.

Am talking about planned Law Schools at World University and School this morning at 10am Pacific Time in an online live Hangout on Air and re other law questions at WUaS - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1061843297025441793 - potentially in conversation, as well. This will get recorded to the WUaS Youtube channel too - youtube.com/WorldUnivandSch.

Here are some of the beginning law schools and law related wiki pages at WUaS ones:

Law Schools at World University and School (planned in main languages in them)

Afghanistan Law School at WUaS: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Afghanistan_Law_School_at_WUaS

Brazil Law School at WUaS: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Brazil_Law_School_at_WUaS

China Law School at WUaS: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/China_Law_School_at_WUaS

Egypt Law School at WUaS: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Egypt_Law_School_at_WUaS

India Law School at WUaS: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/India_Law_School_at_WUaS

Jamaica Law School at WUaS: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Jamaica_Law_School_at_WUaS

Mexico Law School at WUaS: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Mexico_Law_School_at_WUaS

World University Law School: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Law_School

And some other related wiki subject pages:

- https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Creative_Commons_Law

Many of these are accessible from - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Subjects

And although I don't do this WUaS daily newspaper, this is an interesting CC chart  -

https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1061070070389112832 - and this paper lists daily the licensing clarifications that MIT OCW's Exec Dir. Cecilia d'Oliveira asked WUaS to include when we mention MIT OCW, which you can also see on our front page - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - in addition to the CC-4 licensing which, per Cecilia, allows for A) sharing, B) adapting, but C) non-commercially. WUaS is seeking to engage CC-0 licensing as well. How WUaS might engage CDLA licensing ahead to complement CC-4 MIT OCW licensing is still unclear to me at this point.

Looking forward to further communication about all of this with time.

Regards,
Scott
