Cape Sebastian, Stanford Law CodeX online meeting - [codex_group_meetings] TODAY! CodeX Mtg (9/12 @1.30p PT): SprintLaw; Documate - SLS N112 (or via Zoom) * * * Oregon: Reed College . . . Reedies as graduate students to teach this, and to become WIUaS Ph.D. graduate students for free-to-students' degrees, as well as to become future faculty and staff. MIT OCW has about 32 MIT departments * * * Cape Sebastian hike

Dear Dorna, Alex (and Roland),

Thanks for your timely Australia law IT perspective, and Documate presentation. I wrote in chat:

What regulatory issues in Australia might you be facing, if any (and possibly with comparison with state of California thinking in these regards)? Thanks so much, Alex, for your Law Tech presentation in CodeX!

Let's stay in touch too about MIT OCW-centric Australia World University and School  (https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States), and especially with regards to our planned online Australia WUaS Law School - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Law_School (see the ~8 planned 'Law Schools at World University and School (planned in main languages in them' at bottom here). If possible, we'll develop in collaboration with Stanford Law CodeX, and WUaS seeks to become the Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Oxbridge of the Internet.

Dorna, World Univ & Sch is also seeking to develop in Persian - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Persian_language - at Iran World Univ & Sch - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Iran_(Islamic_Republic_of) .

World Univ & Sch's platforms are CC-4 MIT OCW in its 5 languages (and Persian MIT OCW was archived only recently), Google in its ~100 languages with Translate, and Wikidata/Wikibase with its ~300 languages, and WUaS seeks to be in 7,111 known living languages.

If WUaS can, WUaS will seek to co-develop faculty / legal technology within a Google-centric platform - as well as with Google TensorFlow for data and AI - and will seek further collaboration with a wide variety of law practitioners and via our law faculty and professors.

Thank you.

Best, Scott

Candace!

Thanks for your thoughtful email. And congratulations on becoming Chief! Am hoping to connect and pair up soon, as well - and especially to begin a family. It occurs to me I could potentially meet a life partner at this Reed FAR weekend soon, and even, for example, by giving someone a ride back to the SF Bay Area, who might also be interested. Have blogged about this here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/big-flowered-wooly-meadowfoam-musing.html. In your new role as a NPS Chief, check out this incredible Meredith Delich/Patricia Deely Google for NonProfits' video (from 10 September 2019) which discusses so many management issues in brand new I.T. -centric ways - in this blog post too. Very germane for World Univ & Sch as well. World Univ & Sch's platforms are CC-4 MIT OCW in its 5 languages, Google in its ~100 languages with Translate, and Wikidata/Wikibase with its ~300 languages, and WUaS seeks to be in 7,111 known living languages. While Reed College offers one pedagogical model, MIT OCW another, and edX (Harvard/MIT founded, and re HarvardX and MITx) another one online, for example, the day-long state of California's BPPE licensing workshop on 2/20/19 in San Jose, CA - with a ginormous workbook we participants all brought home afterward with us - will focus World Univ & Sch on licensing for both Bachelor and Ph.D. degrees online in English. And WUaS seeks to offer online Humanities 101 (Reed informed re Hum 110 - and Nathalia King's lecture) as WUaS begins licensing (and then concurrently accrediting with WASC senior probably). And WUaS seeks to hire Reedies as graduate students to teach this, and to become WIUaS Ph.D. graduate students for free-to-students' degrees, as well as to become future faculty and staff. MIT OCW has about 32 MIT departments. These will be our initial majors in English, after the 6 in the course catalog here - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - (and WUaS also seeks to hire 2.2 million people on both wings with time - https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2016/01/14-planned-wuas-revenue-streams.html - all of which would advance Reed indeed).  Did you know that the MIT Sloan School of Management's courses are available online for free - https://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm - under CC-4 licensing? And I've just emailed Peter Norvig, head of Google's AI (who wrote the best text book for this) to inquire how he'd approach MIT OCW in Google. Maybe as part of this process, WUaS could generate some Sloan School of Management's courses that could be taken by NPS staff and which might be helpful for you in your new role. (And MIT OCW is still publishing new courses with full video - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1172194317483380736 & https://twitter.com/MITOCW/status/1171618130201915393) While Canyon 94516 where I live is very beautiful, as is my two-room house-let there, it's not big enough for a growing family. Greetings from Florence, Oregon, on night 2 of an up the coast journey to Reed. At Cape Sebastian south of here yesterday afternoon, met an amazing couple from Galicia Spain and we hiked 30 minutes down to the beach, and 30 minutes back up. On holiday, and driving down the coast from Seattle to SF, Manuel, a university researcher, is developing the Cabila (meaning think in Spanish, or tribe in Swahili) 'game' for cultural heritage - a field that overlaps with my actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnography project - as well as my UC Berkeley Tourism Studies' working and group and related talks I've given at Cal. And Tanit is a psychologist working with refugees in Galicia. Both could help a lot with World Univ & Sch in Galician and Spanish. (Could this too have been a kind of 'GPS introduction'?) Manuel and my meeting could relate too to a realistic virtual earth that would benefit the National Park Service as a new initiative even - in addition to online MIT&Google-centric management classes. :) I doubt there will be a Hum 110 lecture streamed from Reed FAR, but if there is I'll let you know, and perhaps we can sit together virtually. On with seeking to connect with a wonderful friend / girl friend / partner / wife / mom-to-be who's a great fit here ... :) Thanks so much for your ever so great email, and good luck and best wishes in your new role, Candace!

Living longer than the upper limit of 122 - to 150? - is looking promising - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/longevity - and hoping we can keep connecting like this, both in writing, virtually and in person - perchance next at Reed! (Check out the Montane Ecosystem blog post from May here :)

More later!

Dear Manuel and Tanit,

More about ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy

Just shared this with a friend from Reed College:

At Cape Sebastian south of here yesterday afternoon, met an amazing couple from Gallicia Spain and we hiked 30 minutes down to the beach, and 30 minutes back up. And Tanit is a psychologist working with refugees in Gallicia.

How could we explore developing MIT OCW-centric World Univ & Sch in Gallician and Spanish further re Spain World University and School - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Spain - in Spanish - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Spanish_language (https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages)? See, too -https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/ ...

Friendly regards, Scott

Tanit and Manuel,

Blogged a bit about this here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/cape-sebastian-stanford-law-codex.html ... see the Manuel Castells' label and many others per what we talked about. See my email here to Candace re method for degrees at World University and School.

Very nice to meet you. Am still unclear about my schedule for returning to the SF Bay Area after the Reed FAR gathering which ends on Sunday. Consider checking out Harbin Hot Springs on your way south - https://harbin.org/ - but I'm not sure what accommodations they offer presently, after a ginormous fire in September of 2015, and having re-opened this January 2019.

Cheers, Scott
