What is technological determinism?

"Technological determinism is a reductionist theory that assumes that a society's technology determines the development of its social structure and cultural values."

"Der technologische Determinismus ist eine reduktionistische Theorie, die davon ausgeht, dass die Technologie einer Gesellschaft die Entwicklung ihrer sozialen Struktur und ihrer kulturellen Werte bestimmt."



There are two general frameworks and hypotheses that frame these questions, revolving around technological determinism questions -

The first says that Technology shapes us through forming information 'structures' in society.
