Hi Ma! Happy upcoming Thanksgiving! ... getting ready to drive to Little Orleans Maryland to meet T for a hike along the (fascinating historic) C&O canal, and a visit tomorrow. Could be fun to bicycle the whole way from not only Cumberland MD to DC, but from Pittsburgh to DC, and with a life partner (T bicycled a section of the C&O canal with his partner Alison in 2019!) ... And even with an emergent electric touring bicycle that goes 500 miles on one (lightweight) battery charge ... Maybe in the next year ... with T ... if I get a new bike? While most electric bikes have a range of about 30 miles for their lithium ion batteries nowadays, this one is supposed to get 300 miles between charging ... https://optibike.com/long-range-touring/ "The Optibike R22 Everest Edition can go up to 300 Miles on a Single Charge" ... Will bring an veggie turkey for our hike tomorrow, and an early pre-Thanksgiving, but not necessarily warm for a picnic on the adventure! See you on Thursday, Ma, for Thanksgiving! Love, Scott
Scott -
Ma, good morning! Just had my morning meditation inner releasing action on my way soon to meet with T, in MD but not with electric bikes yet for touring :) ... Glad to have gotten good health coverage in this asylum journey, abolitionally, love, Scott (http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/11/northern-goshawk-chicks.html?m=0)
Jane -
Hope your hike with T.. is great and the weather is as beautiful where you are as it is here. Chris and Fracka are coming around 1:00 tomorrow. Plan to come then or a little earlier when I could use your help with a heavy plant and also fetching the food. See you tomorrow. Safe travels. Love, Ma (don't forget to check in at the desk)
Scott -
Sounds good, Ma, just back from a great hike with T... along the C&O canal between & around mile markers 158 & 159 in Green Ridge State Forest in MD. Weather all day was great starting off cold 36F but T.. was wearing shorts from the Time we met at 10am. We walked through vast expanses of forested lands, with great views toward the end and interesting insights into the C&O canal itself and its history throughout. Good to talk and visit. How was your day? I'll plan to get to your place around noon and bring the vegetarian turkey roast I made last night of which T.. and I each had a slice on the trail. I Think traveling has just gotten safe again after our meeting and hike together. Love, Scott 💕

Text messaging and ideas with T.. on the way to Green ridge state forest and the C & O canal Wed., Nov. 23, 2022
...
T..
Sure thing. Do you have her phone number?
Scott
We just talked briefly about our iPads last Sunday ... and I don't want to be too forward ... and regarding actually meeting a life partner who might be seeking one too ... (and might be a MD) ... and I don't want to get involved in any 'framing' situation either in a Starbuck's cafe, in that I'm in Pgh because of seeking asylum (and possibly regarding a criminal UC Berkeley law instructor even, and in my calling for the abolition of the illegal sex and drug industries and their latent networks of violence) ... and with possible information technology playing a role in the background either. I think it's unlikely that she'll be there, besides ... Seeking to grow World Univ & Sch ... and looking forward to seeing you, T..! Thanks for your encouragement!
Hoping you have had a good weekend, and looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday, Headed over to a different cafe at beautiful Phipps' conservatory of flowers, blogged a bit, talked briefly to a Swedish man, part of a traveling couple in the cafe, ... then for a hike in freezing beautiful forested empty Schenley park on a Sunday afternoon ... Will aim for the HQ and hope I have internet signal in remote areas ... on with circulating here to find a life partner, possibly a MD to be, school teacher, and / or CMU student who might want to move to Canyon 94516 in September, or ... Quite a few attractive women around here, somehow alike .... and many nuclear families in somewhat staid Pittsburgh (which staidness I'm appreciating for the present:) See you soon
Please bring someone if you're so lead, T.. ... see you soon ... and so glad we're going to connect for a hike the Wednesday before Thanksgiving !
T.., would love in the next few years to head up to Harbin with you again, either to a physical simulacra of Harbin for field site generation goo on the Ridge in Canyon 94516 or to actual Harbin and or 'here' soonish -
T..
Hope we can do it. Is Harbin open again and thriving?
Have been poring over maps of Green Ridge and considering alternative of meeting in the small town of Little Orleans. How far is that for you? We can do a loop there that takes us onto the C&O Canal and doesn't involve the car shuttle.
Scott
Great! I think Harbin is open again but maybe the rebuild after the fire in 2015 could be taking a while (not sure about thriving after such devastation!)
Little Orleans sounds good too ... 141 miles, 2.5 hours ... Meet at the public library if there is one? Am curious too about the C&O canal exploring-wise, historically too!:)
C & O Canal Towpath Trail, Section #4 on AllTrails
T..
There won't be a public library there I don't think. Very small town, basically a hamlet. We can park just W of the campground and hike down to the canal, do about three miles along the canal and then circle back through the forest mostly on direct roads
Scott
Sounds great! Specific address for GMaps, T..?
Just emailed you some further specific rendezvous locations near but not in Little Orleans ... "just west of the campground" without wifi could be interesting ... specific Little Orleans' campground address? Shall we aim for s: 31661 Green Forest Dr, Little Orleans, MD 21766
Hours:
Open ⋅ Closes 7PM
Phone: (301) 478-2325 and see what happens
?
I doubt we'll see any flowers, but possibly some birds ... birding apps you like?
T..
Alas I don't have any birding apps. Welcome suggestions!
Scott
Am going to be experimenting with the free Cornell Labs' Merlin Bird ID App ! Check it out? (Sent this to your Yahoo email earlier too!) Let's touch base in voice tomorrow about our rendezvous place too ! :)
T..
Sure thing. Looks like I will take Exit 68 and head S on Orleans Road. Probably you will do same
Scott
Got the veggie turkey bird, but I don't think it will be warm on the trail (am not bringing a lightweight backpacking stove for example) ... and I don't think the Cornell Labs' Bird ID App will be any use whatsoever in identifying Thanksgiving veggie turkey, cold or warm. Got the cranberries too, but scrumptious dried and not as sauce ... Usually Maps stores the route en route for when I get out of wifi range. Thanks to your text message, it looks like when departing, I'll do what you wrote in reverse. Talk soon tomorrow
! :)

On GMaps I see Highway 68 that I'll likely drive on close to Little Orleans and a road south exiting off of this, but no exit number on GMaps ... will aim for the 31661 Green Forest Drive Little Orleans MD address and see you there, T.. - an adventure in rendezvous with IT! :)
T..
Yes I-68 and then Exit 68 and then head head S on Orleans Rd
Morning! Other meeting spots like Beckley Springs or Hancock are quite out of the way for you. Easy enough to meet in Little Orleans. There is a shop for beer and tackle called Billy's we could me at.
Scott
Sounds good!
Might be fun to see Little Orleans a bit and meet at Bill's Place 12719 High Germany Rd, Little Orleans, MD 21766 ... then "All Trails" it from there for a nice hike along the historic C&O canal (
https://www.canaltrust.org/about-us/about-the-co-canal/history/) ... Will just be departing around this time tomorrow - see you soon!
I think freight from Cumberland MD and the C&O canal to Pittsburgh PA after the 1850s may have traveled via the Great Allegheny Passage by wagon (a hypothesis)
T..
There was a train through the Alleghenys, now a bike trail all the way to Pittsburgh. I have my sights on that too!
Scott
When I wonder did the train begin and was wagon used before for freight through the Great Allegheny Passage? Biking this level way could be great ... And with a lightweight electric bike for touring with enough BATTERY range with panniers and staying in lodging could be really great (with a life partner to be too here:)
T..
The Passage actually has some big hills. But makes it possible to bike all the way from Pittsburgh to Georgetown, DC, via the towpath. I have biked the length of the canal in several segments. Will be fun to revisit tomorrow part of the stretch I biked with Alison in November 2019.
Scott
An electric bike for the hills could be great. Am periodically searching on and saving lists of electric bikes for best range, lightest ... here's a new one claiming 300 mile range, where I think most top out at 30 mile range (after biking only for some 23 years from Portland OR and Reed forward ... best electric bike for touring long battery life ...
The Optibike R22 Everest Edition can go up to 300 Miles on a Single Charge
... Biking the C&O canal, which you know well it sounds like, in 2019 with Alison sounds great ... will be fun to explore further tomorrow!
Some Twitter action: HIKING along #CandOCanal @COcanalNPS tomorrow near #LittleOrleansMD with #ReedCollegeFriend How best to add photos from new #iPadCam to #GoogleStreetView w #TimeSlider (like a #GoogleMapsCar or
#GoogleStreetViewBike) to #RealisticVirtualEarthForTraveling for history & journey?
T..
I don't think I am ready for an electric bike yet. Still a purist on that front!
Scott
Had a ZAP electric motor on my Schwinn Voyageur touring bike from about 1994-2001 with the heavy lead acid battery getting about a 3 mile range ... It ran out of power just before getting home half way up to 3632 Market Street ... Looking for a powerful lightweight bicycle battery with a 500 mile range for touring! :)
The great thing about the Schwinn Voyageur touring bike (for we purists), were it to be available today, and if there were an updated ZAP electric bicycle motor, is that the ZAP battery is removable (motor too fairly easily, but it was lightweight), and thus this 'traditional 18 speed touring bike remains the basis and is familiar, pure, and usable without the electric motor system ... Maybe WUaS can develop both a traditional 18 speed LIGHTWEIGHT carbon bike, and a modular updated ZAP motor and battery that could tow the weight of this trailer even and panniers ...
https://optibike.com/long-range-touring/ "The Optibike R22 Everest Edition can go up to 300 Miles on a Single Charge" ... with an ever lightening lithium ion batter, T..! (But it could be fascinating to build the motor too into the back hub, and let it help recharge the lithium ion battery or similar!) Talk with you later! Scott
You can see an old ZAP electric bike motor here -
http://scottmacleod.com/ - (by searching on the 1st of 8 'Zap' hits ... and clicking on the jpg image), T.. - except for the important THROTTLE on the handlebar!
I liked this ZAP motor (the idea, and the relatively good functionality, on a purist's bike) for most of the 1990s!
T..
Looks like a nice sunny day for us tomorrow!

Scott
Yay!
Mid 50s in winter is great 'back east'
Hi T.., the veggie turkey is baking in the oven! Couldn't find a personal robot anywhere to build on Nobel laureate Ishiguro's "Klara and the Sun" impressive robot book regarding artificial friends too! Just called and left a message. Let's talk if we can after you learn more and are free, T.., this evening if possible (am realizing the US state department is a ginormous complicated organization! Looking forward to seeing you soon in a MD forest!
T.., let's talk on the phone before we depart, somehow and sometime. I'd like to hear your thinking about where to meet in conversation to confirm a specific location, for example, since we've mentioned many rendezvous places so far! Never completely clear whether an AI chat bot is writing good text messages these days, but which aren't from you even! I'll wait to leave until we talk over the phone! Looking forward to seeing you, Fond regards, Scott
Great to talk, T..! See you at Bill's Place ... always here thinking a little about security ... Looking forward to hearing from you from the road ... a last minute change of rendezvous location could be a good safety measure ... Just emailing you the 3 street addresses we've mentioned so far in some of these regards. Warmly
, Scott

Scott
So great to see you in the Green Ridge state forest my dear friend T... (Yamaha piaggero np-32 has speakers on it, is good value, LIGHTWEIGHT and I just got an inexpensive replacement music rest for my NP31 after many years fairly easily!) ... Looking for a great smart AI robot as a gift for YOU in WM Tuesday lead me down a path to finding the cool great early Miko 3 that apparently teaches Yoga even ... Miko 3's #SmartRobot #ArtificialIntelligence apparently teaches #Yoga: Article mentions #Consciousness "#SnehVaswani Of Miko On The Future Of Robotics Over the Next Few Years' "#CoCreateArt & #CoWriteMusic w Miko 3"
See, too - Who made Miko 3 robot?
"Miko 2, an educational robot for kids
'Twas a great trip, if only a little dose! ... a day trip is too short, T.. ... 'Twould be great to get together for days on end ... A bicycle trip along the C&0 canal? ... possibly with OptiBike (for me - https://optibike.com/long-range-touring/ - for $14,000! for everything??? ... you on a purist traditional 18 speed touring bike on dirt tow paths) ... just noticed its ginormous battery, so a 300 miles' battery range between charges for bike touring is interesting now (https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/11/honeysuckle-hiking-along-candocanal.html) ... And our journey between mile markers' 58 and 59 was fun ... a new world for me ... thank you! ... here in Google Maps now, potentially to revisit somehow in the future and might we even co-create our trip wiki-wise - https://www.google.com/maps/place/Fifteen+Mile+Creek+Boat+Ramp/@39.6158505,-78.4268046,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xd88f41985e20e46!8m2!3d39.6244454!4d-78.3849192 (Am curious to retrace our path in Google Maps if possible). - Scott
T, am curious too to explore the idea of your and my realistic avatar bots in around 1966 Computer Science created with photos and possibly video too, interactive and conversational (possibly even as avatar bot electronic medical records, with little Pegman in Street View becoming the basis for these) - in New Haven Connecticut when we both lived there at the same time possibly overlapping place-wise for a few months - talking with each other, again as 5 and 6 year old kids ... After a certain stage in CS development of these avatar bots for us as 6 year olds, and such that they could talk with each other interactively and conversationally as kids, could we then say that we've known each other since 1966 (compared with having met at Reed in around 1979 in Portland, Oregon)? 🙂 Warmly, Scott (https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/11/honeysuckle-hiking-along-candocanal.html)
I also think having met for this hike in Maryland - and talked quite a lot too - that safety questions for me regarding my asylum journey (and latent networks of violence regarding WUaS and my calling for abolition of the illegal sex and drug industries, for example) have changed significantly - thank you - (and re for example feminazi??? ecila laawos, mot eilyw, and bob yeltrah aravhsi eiluj smada of Harbin nibraH) THANK YOU, T ... interesting to see too that the Mika 3 smart robot is out of an Indian IIT in Mumbai on India's west coast, and that it has an office in the SF Bay Area in Pleasanton, CA where the (152nd?) Caledonian Games are held these years ... and even regarding WUaS seeking to create teaching and learning robots in all 7.9 billion people's arms, including philosophy teachers, anthropology teachers, sociology teachers ... how can WUaS code for this in Miko 10? 🙂 (https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/11/honeysuckle-hiking-along-candocanal.html)
Some web sites for Chesapeake and Ohio C and O canal history of where we walked and the Locks' and mileage markers 58 and 59 ... 58 - https://www.canaltrust.org/pyv/lock-58/ - https://www.canaltrust.org/pyv/mile-marker-58/ - https://www.nps.gov/places/000/c-o-canal-lock-58.htm AND Lock 59 - https://www.canaltrust.org/pyv/lock-59/ - https://www.canaltrust.org/pyv/mile-marker-59/ - https://www.nps.gov/places/000/c-o-canal-lock-59.htm ... and ... WUaS #philosophy #anthropology, #sociology teachers for exploratory coding with Miko 10?

T..
There you go! We could do another stretch next trip and take in the Paw Paw Tunnel. Am already planning!
Scott -
On bicycles and for an overnight camping to start - possibly even in tents:)? May start looking into electric touring bicycles, planning-wise!
Or staying in lodging along the way for an overnight might be most sensible! 🙂 (https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2022/11/honeysuckle-hiking-along-candocanal.html)
Or just hiking? ... Am wondering whether this optibike without the trailer - https://optibike.com/long-range-touring/ - could take a bike rack on front and back, and even 4 panniers, fenders too 🙂 ... and be rechargeable along the way easily ... and have a throttle 🙂
T..
I think hiking for now with the cold weather coming on. I find biking less enjoyable in the cold way under 40 degrees
Scott -
... than walking in shorts in 36F weather? 🙂 Another day trip and to explore the Paw Paw tunnel sounds awesome? - December possibly?
